I picked it up last Friday and wore it for 4 hours that day but it was so tight i had to take it out, i couldnt manage it that weekend and went back in to the Dentist this Monday and he loosened it a bit and i managed to wear it 3 hours on Monday and then just an hour here or there the rest of this week...its still very painful and i just dont think it is meant to be that bad surely? I am a bit concerned as when i placed my order for the IA i waited over 3 weeks without a sign of it so i then ended up chasing it only to be told that they had made an error in that they forgot to place my order so then they had it made in an express service for me. So i am a bit worried that it hasnt been made right or that they should have taken new moulds...i dont know if i am just being paranoid.

Oh that doesn't sound right at all! Definitely get your dentist to check it out again you don't want the treatment to take even longer because it's not fitting properly. Mine was exactly 2 weeks from the impressions being taken to the moulds of what my teeth will look like being sent back and then another 2 weeks until I collected my aligner but they were all planned appointments so it may have actually arrived at my dentists a few days before my appointment. I was wearing mine for about 3 hours then takin it out for an hour or so then putting it back in and taking it outs etc from the first day because although it was painful it eased off enough within an hour of having it to be able to put it back in for a while again. The pain I experienced was just aching and discomfort the sort that makes you really irritable and snappy, I was awful to be around for the first few days but it's ok now :-) my speech is improving aswell, have had 10 days holiday from work and went back today and a lot of people have said how much better it is, I still really struggle to pronounce words with s, d, j and g in but I certainly don't feel quite so self conscious when speaking to people now. I take it out when I have a meeting with more than 1 person because it makes me feel much more comfortable :-)

Hi everyone!

Im on 7.4 weeks today. I actually can't believe how quickly the time goes over from when you first get the IA and dread having to wear it for the length of treatment. Unfortunately I have had a coldsore so haven't been able to see my dentist for a couple of weeks so I am panicking that I need my teeth filed to create space but have another week to go now before I see dentist. So I'm thinking my treatment time will now go on another fortnight from the original time. I was also supposed to get the composite on my front tooth but have not yet due to this coldsore. However my tooth has moved quite a bit without the composit on so I'm not to worried. I don't actually really understand how it will make any difference with it on but I'm sure my dentist knows what she is doing.

I'm really, really pleased with my treatment is going so far. Comparing the pics of my old teeth to new pics from one side they seem perfect and from the other side view where my worst tooth it is id say 75% better.

Hope everyone else's treatment going well xxx

Hi All

Im reading quite a few stories from people where their worst/ troublseome teeth have started to wobble....im absolutely terrified mine will (this is my worst fear) ...can those that its happened to clarify how bad it is/was and does it stop and how bad are/where your teeth to start with? (eg how far did they stick out etc)

Thanks

Mater33 - I only noticed my tooth wobbling about a week ago (6 weeks in). It's less of a wobble and more of a clicking back out of place of I push it out with my tongue. It does not feel anything like it is about to fall out or what wobbly teeth felt like as a child (mind doesn't/hasn't anyway). I would not panick about it. I assume it is just until the bone forms around the new tooth position.

I hope this helps a little, best of luck xxx

Hi, I'm now had my IA in for 5wks 2days. Had a apt at the dentist on Monday (2 days ago). Got a wee bit more filing done which did hurt a bit! I've also had a cple of wks added to my treatment plan, it's gone from 8-10wks to 10-12wks now which is disappointing although I do notice a big improvement!! Speech is the only thing still really annoying me! I wear my IA all the time except when Eatin, brushing or goin on a night out. Have also noticed my teeth feel loose but aptly it's nothin 2 worry about. The bit of the IA that clips onto your teeth has made a gap between 2 of mine, again the dentist says not to worry & this will close over after. Back to the dentist Monday comin again so hopin for more movement!
Love readin everyone's experiences btw :) good luck!!

Got into the the dentist 2 days early & had my permanent crown & retainer fitted yesterday & am happy to report that I love the final result!
No more IA...........for 3 weeks anyway as I have gone ahead & got the impression taken for my bottom teeth so I will be with you fellow aligners for another 3 months or so now.
I wish I could have seen into the future & seen the final result so I didnt put myself through so much worry.
Will get some pics up one day in the near future :)

Ooo, congratulations Ozzy! I can't wait to see the pictures!

I'm so happy - my stubborn teeth are finally moving! My dentist was relentless with filing them and it seems to have made the world of difference. I don't think the bottom two really had enough room, but the filing seems to do the trick. I'll have the aligners in for my holiday - boo. But I'll be glad of my pretty teeth even more now, as I got made unexpectedly single recently. I'm gonna need a convincing smile!

I had Inman Aligners on both my top and bottom teeth.

That's great news Ozzy! I bet you are ecstatic. And it's really nice for us other IA users to here such a positive ending :-)))

I'm on week 8 now and really really happy. When I take my IA out in the morning my teeth are straight. However like I've mentioned before, they do tend to move back a bit by the time I've had my breakfast.

Nickelnikki the last time I was at the dentist I think she filed quite a bit and my teeth seemed to move loads by the end of that day.

thanks Nikki & Sassy :)
Nikki, sorry to hear about your unexpected marital status!!! I hope u r ok? I googled images for bottom aligners last night & your images appeared quite a few times Nikki :)
I am so glad to have been able to post a positive ending.
Sassy, it is amazing how quickly the teeth do move. the dentist removed the bar of the IA from behind my teeth a while back when a gap had appeared, the gap closed up over night, pretty amazing.
I collected my whitening stuff yesterday. That is a 10 day process. I haven't started yet but will wait for that to be complete before I post any pics.
Honestly, everytime I go to the bathroom I cant stop smiling at my self in the mirror

Hi all, not much to say but thought id do a quick update seen as though I've been to dentist today. I'm on 8 weeks and 4 days. Was quoted 12 weeks originally but im not sure if I'm still on track for that or whether the coldsore I had which meant I missed appointments for 2 weeks has put my time back.

My dentist put the composite spot on my front tooth today and I was really happy as I expected it at the bottom of my tooth and to be quite big but she put it at the top of my tooth and it's unnoticeable unless I specifically point it out n go right up close to someone

All in all I'm happy and just getting very excited for the end result. All of my family are commenting on how great they are looking all ready.

Hi all.

I have a question...can anyone tell me what they clean the IA with? at the moment i am just using a brush and toothpaste but it looks quite grubby and chalky inside.
Also i have been wearing my IA for 23 hours a day for a week now and i just wondered if anyone could comment on when i am likely to see any movement, i know everyone is different but just an idea would be great. thanks Mater33

I use denture tablets, i soak a tablet in with the alginer for 3 minutes then give them a quick brush and they come out like sparkling new. I currently use tescos own range and they do the job really good.

Ive had my inman aligner in for 14 weeks now, i have two small gel like blobs at the back as it they are ment to 'finish' the moving process. Im not convinced, i was told 10 weeks treatment time, and im no where near the finish. Although on the other hand, My teeth have moved a shocking amount since when i has them first fitted. So they do work, just take a little longer than said! A little patience and we will all get there in the end!

If anyone wants to know anything about the inman aligner, i would be happy to answer as ive probably had every experience imaginable with this aligner! ( its even broken in the past, but easily fixable!) And id be more than happy to answer!

:D :-*

Hi mememe321

Thanks i will try the tabs....so are you saying that your teeth moved from the outset? Ive been wearing mine practically 24/7 for a week but no movement yet...do you think this is normal, should i wait another week and if still no movement go see my dentist or am i being in patient?

Tnx a lot Mater33

hi everyone,
just an update. im on week 9 (out of 12 hopefully)i told my dentist there was no movement in last 2 weeks. she has reset my composite
to a slightly lower level on front tooth. this should now move it that little bit needed to finish.
my progress since the start has been very good. family and friends have said its money well spent,so much improved.
wearing the IA for 22 hours now...
all the best to everyone.
