6 month brace - Help

#1 Post by Beaniebean »

Hi,

I really need some support right now ! To cut a long story short I have had my braces on for over 6 months now, I was originally told they would be off by now, and now I'm being told that it could take as long as 18 months. My teeth are not that bad and I have done this purely for cosmetic reasons. I have suffered massive amounts of pain the whole time and have just done my best to struggle through. I already suffered daily tension headaches so maybe this wasn't the best move ha ha . Anyway I guess what I'm asking is has anyone had a similar experience with the 6 month braces and is there light at the end of the tunnel !!!

I don't have braces and I get headaches when I chew on my 12 year molars, and that's actually part of why I'm considering braces(I fully expect them to get worse before getting better). That said, no way would I be a candidate for 6 month braces (got an 18-24 month estimate at my first consult so far), though I would be upset if I was having the same problem at the end of my treatment. What has your ortho said about why the time estimate is tripling?

I gather the whole 'six month' estimate is just that - an estimate. Sorry your time has tripled :(
