I just finished brushing my teeth and looking in the miror. I like what i see. My teeth are look bloody great. I love the straightness of everything

I can tell my teeth are going to be dazzling once the jaw surgery is over with and my braces come off.

2 more days til my 5 month anniversary. Will be the longest meaningful relationship i've ever had. :P

Appearance

#17 Post by ToothofTruth »

I know what you mean about feeling self concious about your appearance. I have a horrible overbite and my front tooth is horribly crooked. Whenever I meet people I ALWAYS THINK THEY ARE LOOKING AT MY TEETH! Maybe they are, maybe not. But it bothers me so bad. I can not wait til Friday. I'm 29 and wish I could have gotten them sooner. My mom couldn't afford it, So I'm getting them as an adult.
Kids can be cruel so I can only imagine what you have gone through. But you have a good head on your shoulders. Your teeth LOOK GREAT! :D I hope mines move that fast, but I'm a little older so it may take longer.
I will let you know how my appt goes on Friday. :?

Thanks toothoftruth, good luck with ur bracial journey.

I just had to post this quick pic , it was taken about a month ago

Image

Someone took a picture of me, unsuspectingly at a party . I was always so used to keeping my mouth closed and hiding the gap between my teeth. I saw how the pic turned out. And my front teeth was normal looking ' well, from what u can see, not very much. But before the gap used to be so evident because my teeth flared away from each other it was embarassing. I rekcon it has changed my image alot, just from that small gap. I look more mature now, i reckon gaps made me look goofy and younger (like a infant getting his first teeth) . I can finally leave my mouth slightly ajar now and not fear anyone is looking at my gap.

Its just the small things that make me :)

Almost only 9 months of waiting left. Im 1/4 of the way there

just got some spacers in today. a weird familiar sensation. so squishy!

One more week then ig et them out and put the last brackets in to straighten all my teeth out.

i asked my ortho when he thinks i will be prepared for surgery. he said once the back molars straighten up, then he we set up a meeting with the surgeon and a date can be established. He also said that i will not wear elastics before the surgery, only after.

i forgot i had a appointment today at the ortho, time flies by so quickly when not thinking about the braces. but i got to reschedule and made an appointment in the afternoon.

Wow, that's cool. Your teeth are looking sweet.

You must be pretty stoked! I'm glad I decided to get some braces as well. It had been entirely too long since I wanted to. I can't wait to have a beaming smile sans braces. :D

Oh My Freaking God! The pain! The agony! *tears almost coming out*

(sorry i had to use a whole heap of exclaimation marks here, to emphasise my actual tone)

yesterday i had my last bands put in. 2 of the 4 spacers fell out 4 days before the banding. The top two. I tried rescehduling for a appointing to get them replaced so that it wont be so tight when he put the bands on. The girl on the line said it doesnt matter and there should be enough room. WRONG! Stupid girl! The banding was pure torture! The ortho pushed shove shove shove like hammered the bloody bands on the top. It took him awhile to find the right size after hammering my molars. I closed my eyes to keep my mind off the pain. It was really painful (i said nohting because there is nothing but to sit and there and bare the pain)
It took more than 30mins to get 4 bands in. After he had finsihed, my head was spinning. My body was probbaly in shock (yes, he really hammered my mouth) i was suprised i wasnt bleeding after he dug into my gums. It reminded me of the day i got braced, but worse, much much much worse.

Now the braces go all the way in, every tooth. Its hitting my gums badly. Im avoiding wax so i can toughen my cheeks up.
As i type, im eating a big mac, the pain is unbearable, but im a food lover and i ahve to eat. Tears are almost seeping out of my sockets as i chew. It truly does feel like i have been braced all over again because everything is sore (im not used to pain, ive been painfree for months)

and the lesson for me today?
*keep those spacers in!
*Eating soup!
*Its all worth it!
*Be prepared for pain! ( i was one of those people who were like "i have no pain at all")

Ouch!
What a horrible experience...this is what made me leave those spacers alone :D Mine actually hurt though so I had to watch what I eat.

On another note...your teeth look great!! I cannot believe how quickly your gap colsed up...makes me hopeful as I have a gap in between each tooth on the top row and hope to close those suckers up and have a beaming smile as well.

Hope your pain subsides.

Hah! I really like your new avatar! Man, your teeth are looking superb. You must be completely thrilled!

Sorry to hear about the pain. I know that at my first adjustment the assistant just couldn't get a ligature around one bracket and I literally thought she was going to yank out my tooth trying to get it on - omg, the pain. But, like you, I didn't say a thing. I just wanted it all over with. :?

Thanks for sharing your experiences thus far. Please keep us updated! :D

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I needed it

The pain has subsided. I didnt hold out on the wax. There was this stubborn wire which was rubbing against my cheek. The wax slightly helped.

So i called up the ortho this morning and made an appointment to get it snipped, no matter how small it was poking out. It was a good decision, why should i put up with unnecessary pain? The doc was nice and quickly snipped, instantly it felt much more beter and relief. the doc said "you will be having a much better day now" and i am :) I had a bit of glue stick on my teeth from the last banding,it was on my lower canines . i forgot to ask the doc to scrap it off

I made the appointment with the doc at a different location. It turned out it only took about 5-10 mins drive to get there, instead of the 1hour or 1&1/2 hour trip to get to the other place by public transport. I will save much more time no going to this location and seeing the same doc. They have many branches

My molars have lined up so quickly, un-friggin-beleivable how much they changed. All my teeth are lined up now.

Lesson learnt by me today?

*Get that poking wire snipped! No mater how small it is.
*My teeth move real quick! 8)
*write a note to remind me to ask things to the doc!
*Find the cloest branch possible, less stress

A quick note*

My avatar is of my mouth. Its not an animation of me biting down (i wish) The open state of my mouth is my bite, the position of it closing down was a prediction i made using photoshop of after the surgery. And my teeth arent THAT white.... The webcam was flattering in this case.

My next appointment will be 8 weeks times. It seems like the space between adjustments is getting longer and longer. I dont mind, my teeth is already straight. I just wish that my front bottoms and lowers would contact so i can eat properly. all in good time... after the surgery...

The gap between my underbite is quite obvious to me now when i clench. I will show a picture when i can get my pc working properly again.

ok, got it working again

heres a webcam pic of my underbite form the angle above my mouth. This will give you an idea how much of the gap there is. This is my natural bite as of now. Fuzzy pic, but you get the idea.

Image

Before braces. my teeth would touch. well... at least come into contact into each so i could the smaller things. Now i cant do that. This is just the way things has to go before time for surgery.

Havent been here for awhile. Just thought i'd write a quick update

Since i have had all my molars banded, i have two perfect arches now. Will have another adjustment in a few weeks and then i can get s date with my surgeon to get a date for my surgery

I have been kinda slack with my cleaning regime. Braces are just apart of the normal now, no special attention to it. I notice my bite more now
