CC!!! I am having a good time on vacation. It's just hard trying to choose food to eat when your friends are choosing like everything on the menu but I am surviving. Today I had salmon broccoli rice and green beans and was able to eat it all. I was sad when I could not eat my chip and dip my friends ordered!!! Well just think in about two years I will be able to eat all that. I hope your cold is getting better and you are feeling better and can ea soon!! I can not believe I have my first adjustment soon on Sept. 4th and my first cleaning is also soon.

Kimmie!!! I'm so glad you're having a great time away!! Such a shame you can't eat like everyone else!! But it will all be worth it in the end when you're chip and dipping with gorgeous teeth!!

My cold has mostly gone and my mouth is healing!! Hooray!! But now my upper canine is paining moreso than my first few days in braces!!! Moving again???? I thought at the 5 week mark that things would be settling down but seems they're only just getting started!! Lol! I'm able to eat right up the back of my mouth though so it looks like we're both back to eating which is fantastic!!

It's so crazy that we're up to our 1st adjustment!! I hope yours goes well! Mine will be a week or so later.

Keep enjoying that holiday Kimmie!!! It sounds like it is a very well deserved one!!

Hey Everyone!!! I have been gone awhile bc I have been on vacation!!! I was able to eat most things while I was gone. I just ordered Salmon or fish when we went out. The only thing I was not able to eat were the pretzels they gave us on the plane!!! The real big news is I woke up this morning with my teeth hurting and a HUGE gap between my two front teeth. I was soooooo shocked. Like it totally happened over night. I will post that pic when I get off in the morning. I also can't believe next Tuesday will be my first adjustment and I am so excited!!!

Hey Kimmie,

Hopefully you had a good vacation :D . That's great that you were able to eat most things. I am back to eating most things as well. My first adjustment is next Friday (September 7) so I have a feeling I will be back at square one in regards to soreness and eating again. Oh well.

Good luck with your first adjustment and let me know how it goes :)

Thanks Leigh! I have my first adjustment next Tuesday. It seems like things are going by and happening so fast. I guess I better eat as much as I can bear this weekend because like you said it will be back to square 1 for me on Tuesday!!

KIMMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have internet!!

I hope your 1st adjustment has been okay!!!!!!???!!!! What colour/s did you choose??? Are you in terrible pain again??

I can't believe the gap in your photo and that it happened overnight!! They're looking amazing!!!! I find it fascinating watching the changes! I've just posted a more current photo on my story and I'm really happy to see my teeth straightening out little by little!!

Take care Kimmie and all the best with your pain!! Hopefully it's better than first getting them on! My appointment is next week so you'll have to help me decide on a colour - I was thinking either a darker purple or a blue???

how does it feel to start seeing such changes?? i assume it feels a little like me getting my wonky lowers straight instead of piled on top of one another...congratulations :jump:

Hello All,

So, I had my first adjustment on Tuesday and it went well. They did not change my top wire, but on the bottom they did something to my wire where she bascially tied it in a knot and twisted it all around. (Ebony you may know what she did) All I know is it hurt so bad. He was going to change the bottom wire and put a .18 on, but he said he would wait bc my extractions I had done at the end of July still had some healing to do before he put a stronger wire on. My next appointment is Sept. 25 so we will see what happens then and I also have a dental cleaning on Sept. 17. My gum has been swollen for about 3 weeks on my upper arch between my canine and molar and they cleaned the whole area out, but nothing was stuck in there. The first thing they said is "I wonder if its a kernal from popcorn or a piece of chip" and I hurrie up and said I have not had EITHER ONE OF THOSE AND DO NOT PLAN TO BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THE NO NO LIST and they were like good!! So, I was told to do a warm salt water rinse. If you guys have any other suggestions please let me know. I will attach some photos below in which I took on Tuesday. (I know I am a little late posting them)

@CC the pics will reveal what color I got this time. I will give you a hint (It begins with an R and ends with a D) I was only in pain on my lower arch for yesterday and on Tuesday!! Now the next time I really may be in pain bc I think they will change the bottom and top wire to a thicker wire. I tried to take a pic of the twist and knots that they put in this wire but I could not get a close up. I know where the knots and twists are they did not put any ligs on those brackets. I think you should maybe go with the BLUE!!! Maybe a light blue or a royal blue!!

@Betsy I really think you should go with the lime green. I really loved it and it did not fade. I will get it again one day on both my bottom and top arches!! It is amazing to see so many changes. What really amazed me was when the gap formed over night and I had to take a second look in the mirror!! I was like oh my that was not there last night. I actually pinched myself to make sure I was not dreaming. Boy does these braces work miracles. Make sure to keep me updated if you decide to get that green. I say GO FOR IT!!

Kimmie in Red!!!

What an awesome colour! It looks great! :D And I can see so much change!! Hollywood smile, here you come!! :) :)

It's great that the pain is improving! It sounds like you had another eventful appointment though!! :) Hope those gums go down soon! And it's strange how they assumed that you were eating the no no foods?? Could that mean that there are a bunch of underground braces wearing food cheats going crazy and eating popcorn and chips somewhere -come what may!?! YUM I'm jealous!!

Are the twists in the wire scratchy as well as painful??

So... Fish for dinner??? I've stocked up on fish and potatoes for myself next week just in case :) It has been so long since I've been to the ortho (8 weeks) that I'm really nervous again!! He he he :D But yes I'll go with your suggestion of blue!!! There are about 5 different shades of blue from memory... so we shall see what jumps out at me on the day!!

Keep on movin' those teethies Kimmie!! You're doing great!

Kimmie,
Sounds like you may have some wire ties on some of your brackets. I have had a few of those along the way. They look like a wire around your bracket that is all twisted up. I think it just keeps the wire in the bracket a little stronger than the elastic ligs. The red ligs look great!!! Hope the pain eases up pretty quickly. My next appointment is on 9/25 too so we can update each other that afternoon :)
I didn't get to change lig colors, they didn't change the ligs on the top, they just went with the same blue on the bottom that I had before. Granted the new ligs are much brighter than the faded stained ligs on top, I kinda wish they had changed the tops too. Oh well I'm sure it won't take long for the new ones to match the old ones. LOL.

@ Gilly- I am currently pain free!! I like the red ligs and will more than likely get them around Christmas.

@ CC-They have not mentioned yet when I will get the elastics or when they will close up the gaps. I know the last visit they wanted to put a thicker wire on but he wanted my extraction sites to have more time to heal. We shall see what happens this time!! I hope some fun and exciting things happen!! Even though I know pain will be involved!!
