What was your first meal/food after braces?

The first thing I ate after getting my braces was cottage cheese (lunch). And I had some scrambled eggs for dinner that night. That's really all I could manage on day one.

Silly me tried to eat a Whopper Jr.
Then I ate mashed potatoes for what seemed like forever.

I had the Kentucky Fried Chicken Famous Mashed Potato Bowl. "mashed potatoes, layered with sweet corn and loaded with bite-sized pieces of crispy chicken. Then drizzled with our signature home-style gravy and top it off with a shredded three-cheese blend." Their chicken pieces are small bite-sized and very tender, so I was able to smash it to the roof of my mouth with my tongue. Went down great and was YUMMY!

Just got mine yesterday.....

I ate 7 noodles of mac and cheese. How do I know? I counted every one of those suckers since it took a while to chew each one! It wasn't so much the chewing but the gunk stuck in the braces that felt weird. Also tried to eat loaded mashed potatoes - they went down much better since they can slide down!

Today, breakfast was coffee through a straw and for lunch, pudding. Dinner was soup and very soft bread.

I think that's been my staple diet since then as well. Though I did manage pumpkin soup and bread which was soaked in the soup today. Its been 4 days and I'm hanging out for something a bit more substantial.

Though it's not happening

I can't really touch my teeth without them hurting.

High fat yoghurt with honey for lunch. Fish soup for dinner. But I have only got the upper brackets so no pain, just worried getting food stuck. Getting the lower ones and wire next week but I guess I might go for the same food then.

Cream of carrot soup, chicken a la king, and tiramisu, from the cafeteria of my grandmother's nursing home. She said she wanted to be the first person after my ortho to see me on Brace Day, so I visited her right after my appointment, and it was lunch time. I was afraid of eating right away, but food made for old people was a perfect first meal.

Day 1 wasn't so bad, I went to my grandparents house right after I got braces and my grandma had fixed supper. She made meatloaf, shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, and asparagus. I was able to eat all of that without pain. Unfortunately the asparagus got wrapped around my braces and somehow got hooked where I'll eventually have elastics. It took me quite some time to get it unwound.

Day 2 wasn't so pleasant. Lots of mashed potatoes and yogurt. (not at the same time)

My first meal was fried rice. No bigs. This morning I ate a Roasted Almond Crunch Kashi bar. But I ate it carefully and slowly to make sure I didn't pop anything off. Easy as pie.

My first meal was mashed potato, about the only thing I could manage after being braced top and bottom plus having an extraction all on the same day!

The first thing i ate after my braces were put on was a packet of cool original doritos!
Took me like an hour to finish them and had to suck them and crush them with my tongue!

god knows how I am going to be when i get my uppers placed! haha going to stick with rice pudding/soup
