Gahhhh! I went out for Indian food with some girlfriends tonight and it was wonderful--delish! However, upon pulling out my handy compact mirror to check for leftover bits of masala, what do I see...? My adorable pink powerchain is bright ORANGE! I was (am) mortified lol. It hadn't even crossed my mind and this is second time I've done this. I guess the orange is fitting with the season but I really wasn't going for this at all. And I haven't even taken any pictures yet! I'm debating calling my ortho to switch it out for something darker but is it really that important? I guess we'll just wait and see how vain I'm feeling on Monday morning...

Also pain has subsided almost entirely. The powerchain isn't half as bad as I was expecting. Just getting the rectangular wire the first time was wayyy worse. I'm happy to say that I'm back to eating whatever I want:)

How annoying that the indian food stained your new powerchain!! Nevermind, you might actually start liking the orange and can get pink again next time?? It's great that you're not getting too much pain with it though. And yes I remember getting my rectangular wire on and I found it more painful than getting my braces on in the first place! (even though the ortho nurse said it would be a better sort of pain?!?!?)

Happy eating whatever you want!!! And hope you get lots of movement over the next few weeks!

haha thanks Chaotic... Vanity over took me and I decided to switch out the bright orange for something darker where staining wouldn't be an issue at all--Navy blue. They're ok...for now. My next adjustment is at the end of November, 5 weeks instead of the usual 6, so maybe something interesting will take place?

All discomfort has subsided and things are all good. I do have one concern though. Upon getting home I noticed that on 2 of my teeth the powerchain is only around 3 of the 4 corners of the bracket. Have any of you experienced this? I don't know if it's a big deal worth making a phone call over. Please let me know if you have any insight:)

Gilly~ Your teeth are looking great!!! Sorry your pink chain turned orange. I almost went out for indian food the other night then I though about my aqua and pink ligs and started picturing them green and orange, and said no thank you... LOL

Gilly I love the blue powerchain! (I think powerchains look so much better than individual ligs!) Shame we didn't get to see the pink one!

I haven't had any experience with powerchains yet but I know that my ortho has done some funny combinations of hooking up my ligs in order to make a tooth move in a certain direction...perhaps that's what they're trying to do with your chain?? Was your pink chain like that too? If not, perhaps you might need to make a quick visit to your ortho to double check?

Enjoy eating heaps of 'staining' foods with the blue!!! :)

Have a great week and I'm glad the pain is starting to settle down!

Thanks you guys  I am pretty happy with my results so far. It's funny how pictures make everything look so much worse though. I can't wait until I start elastics because my jaws really don't seem to be lining up well atm.

Betsybug, good call on passing up the Indian food, it would suck to stain those lovely colors.

Chaotic, Thank you:) I agree, I definitely prefer the look of powerchains as well. I guess the colours are just so much more pronounced. I don't think he intentionally missed the two corners because my pink chain wasn't like that but I've managed to fix one--the other side is still way too tight. And I will definitely get pink again!

*next appointment is November 27th.

Hey Chaotic, thanks for checking up on me:)

As indicated by my ticker, I had my 4th adjustment 12 days ago on Nov. 27th. I've been meaning to post an update but I've just been busy and so lazy in my off time.

Ok so last adjustment went well. I had brackets added to my second molars on the bottom which I was really happy about. Putting them on took no time at all. He also changed my bottom wire so I now have rectangular wires on both top and bottom. I chose purple ligs for my lowers.
On top he kept me in the same wire and then asked me to choose my lig colour. I chose turquoise (loving it!). I'm assuming he didn't have that colour powerchain because prior to attaching my ligs he put on a clear powerchain. So I have a powerchain with ligs on top of it. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that I was in a lot of pain for a few days.
At the moment, my cheeks are shredded to bits! The new brackets on the bottom are killing me and there is excess wire at the end on top (on both sides!)...Ouch!
Aside from all that the teeth are looking good. The arches are really beginning to form that perfect U-shape. However, my midlines are more off than ever. I see elastics in my near future I just hope I don't end up with the diagonal one right across the front:s...whatever works I guess!

I will add pictures this week (camera is at my mums).

I hope you are all well;)

Hi Gilly!

I've been on holidays so sorry for the late reply!

I'm so glad that you've been making such great progress!! Those new brackets must be quite annoying!! I have my second molars free of brackets and I can only imagine how scratchy the wire would be when there's not a tooth in the way to protect you from it!

Turquoise and purple sounds pretty!! It is strange that you have ligs AND a powerchain that mustn't be comfortable either!

I'm worried about getting the midline elastics as well... hopefully there's another way!!! lol

Have a great week Gilly and looking forward to seeing your photos!

@Lau, thank you so much for the nice words. I really appreciate it:) Happy Holidays to you as well!

@Chaotic, I finally got use to those pesky back brackets, thank the lord! I have a new colour combo to show you guys! The pink ligs are back! *fingers crossed we can both dodge those awkward diagonal elastics

So, I actually had my 6th adjustment today. It was really quick. I got new brackets on both of my lower 1st bicuspids because doc wasn't too impressed with their movement. I was kept in the same wire and got pink lowers on the bottom. Je t'aime

For my uppers he kept me in the same wire and just changed my powerchain. I opted to play it subtle this time around and got my first silver powerchain, though it looks more clear-ish, off white to me... The teeth are progressing well and I just hope I have enough movement this time around so that I will be ready for elastics soon. I'd really like to have my bite issues sorted ASAP as I've noticed some jaw pain recently. I hope it's just temporary :?

I will take some new pictures plus upload the older ones. I hope you are all doin well and HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!!! :-)o :-9
*I hope you're all able to enjoy your favourite holiday meals and treats

PS... Holy Crap! I glanced at my ticker and realized I've had these suckers on for 7 months! Wild how fast time flies.
