Stressing

#1 Post by Lizzie365 »

I don't know what to do.. I'm supposed to be getting braces on the 16th November, and I have three extractions booked for the 5th (wisdom tooth, pre molar both bottom right, and my top left canine)

I've previously lost three molars due to decay (top and bottom left, and top right).

Now I'm panicking about having a sunken face etc I just don't know what to do. I'm so close to cancelling everything but I've come this far I really don't want to.

I had a 2nd consultation with a diff ortho who said I could keep the canine but a premolar would need to go instead, but this is still an extraction!

I'm so scared my face will change and the gaps won't close. I'm praying both my top wisdoms will come though (they're pressing) so they fill some gaps.

I've spent the past hour crying and thinking this over and I just don't know what to do :-((

Hey there, you shouldn't be stressing at all, braces need spaces and all teeth and guns must be healthy for it to work. Once you're braces are on you're teeth will start moving in a matter of weeks and trust me that will change you're smile and give you self confidence,

I got my linguals braces early summer and my teeth are completely changing. Make sure you go for the extractions and put the braces on. You only wear braces for 18 to 24 months for a life long of beautiful smile.

Thank you :) I'm starting to feel better now I've slept on it. I won't have a space where the canine was because I have a lateral incisor behind it that's being brought forward so my smile looks symetrical. Apparently there is no room to move the canine (even though I had a molar taken out a few teeth up from it) :( my ortho seems to know what she's talking about so just need to trust her I guess...

Hey Lizzie,

I'm sorry to hear your worries about your face sinking in, I had to have two pre molars removed and i was petrified of having the same problem, I did ask my ortho about this problem and she said it wouldn't happen because they are closing the gaps but, i was still stressed at the thought of it happening so I know how you feel.

I'm glad you feel better now you've slept on it, It will be worth it in the end! No point calling it all off now you've come so far. Your orthodontist wouldn't remove teeth unless they have to come out!!

P.s, my face hasnt sunken in hehe!;)

good luck

It's all I can seem to think about though and it's driving me mad!

The gaps should close from the ones being taken out next week, but now I'm just concerned about the gaps I have from the previous extractions! I only have a molar either side at the top, so I'm hoping my wisdom teeth make an appearance soon.

Can they make wisdom teeth come through? Haha

Lizzie,
I wonder if they would be able to start treatment without doing all the extractions? Take a wait and see approach?

I don't think they can..

I can see why the teeth need to come out.. I'm just petrified of the consequences of this later in my life.

Honestly feel like I'm about to have a nervous breakdown!!!!!
