Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
WOW your teeth look amazing!!! Congrats on your debrace date!!
My bottom teeth look much like yours *used to*, but mine might be a bit more severe with crowding. I just got braces on about a month ago and I am impatiently waiting for my lower teeth to start moving. GRR! When did you start to see some noticable movement with your lower teeth?

Thanks!! I think my teeth actually look even better now if I can say so! Those last pictures are from 5 months ago so they've gotten even better since then. I actually saw movement pretty quickly, in the beginning I was taking pictures every 2 weeks so it was easier to notice the movement. I started seeing slight changes after about 2 weeks, but it took a long time to see dramatic changes. When there's so much crowding it feels like they'll never be straight but trust me, they will!! 2 years in braces flies by and you'll have beautiful teeth in no time! Hang in there

CONGRATS at having a prospective debrace date!!! That is soo exciting! You have beautiful teeth and your smile looks brilliant. How have the past few months been? Are you loving the way your teeh look right now?
Can't wait to see the finished product!

Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Thanks!! The past few months have been very uneventful with the braces actually, I really can't complain. I'm SO happy with how my teeth are looking! There's one spot that I may end up having some reshaping and probably a bit of bonding done...I have a bit of a space between the top of two of my front teeth and its just because of how the one tooth is shaped. There isn't anything more my ortho can do to hide it or fix it, but I'll wait until the braces come off and decide then what I want to do. It may not bother me once they're off, especially since everything else looks so good. Compared with how my teeth looked before, I'm thrilled with them now!

Hi stepher,
I just finished reading all your posts. Wow! I must say that the differences in your teeth from day 1 to today are just phenomenal. I'm sure that the whole experience was more than worth it for you.
Congrats, by the way, on your engagement. You will look tremenouds in your wedding photos with all your beautiful teeth!

Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Thank you so much Dee! It really is incredible for me to look at my before pictures compared to now. We're having a longer engagement so that I could have time to get the braces off, and as much as I hate having to wait I know it will be worth it to have a beautiful smile in our wedding and engagement photos. Good luck with the rest of your journey! It really does go by quickly and it's so worth all of the bad parts to end up with a smile you've always dreamed of having
Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Hi,
I'm basically just trying to "reclaim" my beautiful smile. I never had any problems with my teeth until this past summer when I had two extractions. Shortly thereafter, I developed a huge space between my two front teeth. Imagine my surprise when my dentist told me that the only way I'd be able to have it closed was by wearing braces! I thought, "At MY age? You MUST be joking!!" Nevertheless, here I am three months later wearing full metal braces on my uppers and lowers. I must say, I have been much happier than I am right now. But, if at the end of this time, I get my beautiful smile back, it will all have been worth it.
Good luck with your wedding planning. A very exciting time for you! I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in your photos!

BRACES ARE OFF!!!
After 23 months, I finally had my braces removed on Monday (Feb. 4) and it is the BEST feeling ever!!
I have the Essix retainers, so I'm really happy that they're almost invisible but my mouth is still adjusting to them. It's been a bit sore the last few days, but I only have to wear them full time for 1 month, then 16 hours/day for 1 month after that and then it will be just at night. Really not that bad at all!!
If anyone is interested in knowing about the process of having them removed, I'd be happy to share that so just comment and let me know if you'd like that!
But now, here's the part that everyone is always most interested in....before and after photos! I haven't posted since November, so I haven't looked at my day 1 pictures since then and oh boy....HUGE difference! I love my teeth so much now, and can definitely say that the whole process was 110% worth it
*Also, just wanted to let people know that I had my retainers on when I took the after pictures, so that's why they look a bit strange. I also took them on my phone, and even though it has a great camera the pictures came out kind of grainy after cropping. Sorry about that!

And just for good measure, here's one of me showing off my gorgeous new smile that I have been loving flashing around!!
I wouldn't call them 100% perfect, but I think that can be difficult to achieve in adults with braces. They look damn good though, in my opinion, so there is NO complaining from me about any slight imperfections that there may be! I was actually fairly happy with the colour of them too, I was really worried that they'd be really yellow. I have been using a whitening toothpaste the last few days, and am going to look into professional whitening. If that's too much $$ then I may spring for some good white strips, but for now I am LOVING being braces free, regardless of the colour of my teeth!!
I want to tell anyone who reads this that is thinking about getting braces, anticipating a brace date, newly braced or feeling discouraged with the braces process that it is SO WORTH IT. I had a lot of anxiety leading up to getting my braces on and I struggled off and on while braced with feeling ugly, having a sore mouth, worrying that people were judging me, etc. Having them off now, I can confidently say that I would absolutely make the same decision if I had to do things over again. I hated my teeth people, HATED. I felt like I was the girl who people would think "She's pretty, but she'd look a lot better if she got her teeth fixed". I'm sure not everyone who met me thought that, but it really ate at my confidence. I feel SO much better about my appearance now, and I know that it would do the same for anyone out there who is debating the decision to get braces as an adult. Yes, it kind of sucked being 25, 26, 27 years old with braces on....but now I have the next 50+ years of my life to look forward to with a beautiful smile! I can show off my teeth in my engagement and wedding photos, I won't be embarrassed of my smile when I take pictures with my future children, I'll have the confidence to smile and feel just as pretty as my friends when we take pictures on girls nights out....make the decision to change your confidence level and love your smile!! Trust me, you won't regret it

Wow!!! Thanks for posting those photos. You look just beautiful. Enjoy your beautiful teeth!
I have also been struggling with how unbelievably ugly I feel in my braces. Seeing both your before AND after pictures is very reassuring. I mean, I know that this process will all be worth it in the end, but it's hard to remember that when I'm struggling to get a piece of lettuce out of my brackets. Thanks for posting them. You look gorgeous!

Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
I know how incredibly frustrating the braces process can be, but it definitely IS worth it!! Hang in there and lettuce is one of the worst things for getting stuck, isn't it? lol
Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Congrats!! Your teeth look amazing!
Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Thank you!!!!
Re: Finally braced! Progress pics included
Yes, lettuce can be horrible. But in all honesty, I've had much worse experiences with melted cheese, especially mozzarella. Finally had to give up eating it altogether. It just wasn't worth the hour it took to clean it all out afterwards!

I agree, Stepher...they do look damn good, and you have every right to display them! It's amazing how much they widened your smile. Enjoy!
