Hello everyone had ortho on saturday to pick up clear retainer to hold teeth in place while inman aligner gets readjusted. Has anyone experienced this? wearing this retainer is like heaven compared to inman, so getting it back thursday dreading it as il need to learn how to speak all over lol. my treatment so far has been 13weeks, 8weeks palatal expander, n four and half weeks inman aligner, and other half of week with this retainer. no idea how long left its only one tooth thats needing sorted its taking so long i could cry, especially since it wasnt doing a great deal and has to be readjusted. feeling quite sad n feel annoyed i cant think negatively;(
Need some reassurance
xx

hi mater33,
the retainer hurt for 3 days but not as bad as the inman aligner. my teeth are now straight after 4 days.
but i feel if i leave my retainer out for too long they might move back.
the dentist said the longer i wear them the more stable my teeth will be in the new position..so far so good.
good luck with yours..

Hi lfkat1

Excellent, bet you were well pleased for them to move after just 4 days, one last question sorry- did you have to wear the clear aligner during the day as well as at night for a while and if so for how long?

Thanks Mater33

Hi everyone!

I thought that after 3 weeks my teeth haven`t moved att all but they actually have!!! Hurray!! I was away for 3 weeks and when I came back home, looked at the pictures taken before and was surprised that there actually IS a small difference. I probably wasn~`t aware of that because I spent most of the time staring at my teeth in the mirror:))))) How do I post a picture here? Can anyone share any pics of their progress?

Hi
I am now into week 11 of the inman aligners. Really thought it would be all done by now but still a few weeks to go. I am getting bored with wearing them and I can't wait till I don't have to wear this particular one on a night. I do wear it as much as I can although my speech is still noticeably lisped. It's great having the option to take them out for special occasions. I can really see the difference and my husband can't stop looking at my teeth when the aligner isn't in. I can see then end in sight now. Hopefully by Christmas I will be all sorted. Any advice to someone who is getting fed up is be patient, it's too much money to spend and give up.

Hi everyone,

I have had my IA for 3 weeks and during these 3 weeks, I have read through all the posts here :-)

I am thrilled with my IA, eventhough I have gone through most of the problems and concerns as many of you. As for the speech, I can only say practice makes perfect. I speak A LOT during the day and by now you can hardly tell I am wearing it. Except when I purposely imitate Daffy Duck ;-)
I have already seen movement. The biggest change happend within the first 4-5 days and then it felt like it slowed down for a while, but now I feel their on the move again. I am 33 and have been unhappy with my teeth ever since I had my braces off as a teenager. I am so glad I took the plunge and got my IA. I went out this weekend, and already I feelt so much better about the look of my teeth that I even wore lipstick and smiled alot more :-) Can't wait to see the end result though!

Best of luck to you all!

Fary

Had my Inman fitted at lunchtime today.

10 hours later, first impressions:

Hasn't effected my speech too much (less than the top brace I had as a child).
Dull ache when fitted, but worse when I took it out to eat!
Eating was quite uncomfortable (I wasn't expecting that)

I just have to keep telling myself it's only for 3 to 4 months.

God this expander is annoying!

When I first went to see my dentist, he told me 3 months with the IA and I should be done. Then when I went to pick up my IA, he said that I need this expander for 2 weeks before I get the IA. After 2 weeks he said I haven't tightened the expander enough (which I had done, just as he had advised) so 4 more weeks with the expander. Now the stupid expander keeps popping out every 2 mins and I can't reach my dentist to find out what to do about it. ARGH! I can't eat anything but soups, puddings and ice-cream since I can't chew at all with this thing. 3 weeks down now without anything solid to eat and it's starting to wear me out.

This concludes our rant of the day. Thanks for listening.

Lucky you if your speech isn`t too bad. Do you wear the top or bottom one? I still have a light lisp after 5 weeks with the IA. Just keep telling to yourself it`s only 3 or 4 weeks before you see a huge improvement!!!! and that will motivate you... I am still shocked by the fact how quickly the IA works.. this is amazing....

It's a bottom Inman to straighten my 4 front teeth which are quite crowded and rotated.

Speech not too bad, I think I had expected worse from remembering back to how a to clip-in brace affected my speech as a child.

36 hours since it was fitted now. The next few months feel like it'll be hard going, but this forum is giving me much hope.

Its been Exactly 4 weeks and 3 days since i got my IA for my top teeth. My ortho predicted it will take 8-10 weeks. I had my second
appointment yesterday and he tightened my IA. He said i should be done soon but my canine and my rear inscorors still havent moved into place. Does anyone know when id be likely to see BIG movement? I dont like the sound of being told im going to be done soon and im stilll not happy with my teeth.

Hi Vicky,
I'll try to take a pic of the expander. I did some DIY on the expander with pliers (naughty me) and now it fits better, I'm not able to take it out without opening the mechanism. The problem with eating is that my molars don't touch each other, the plastic bit of the expander (that covers the mechanism) is actually partly between them. So I really can't chew anything, just nibble with my incisors :D My ortho even called the lab abroad about the situation, but the response was that I'll just have to cope. Feeling a bit more optimistic now that I got the thing back in, but I'm not very happy with my ortho not responding after 2 days (after about 20 calls and a voice mail). After paying him 2500 eur I guess I'll just have to stick with it and hope it's all worth it!
