Has anyone had much experience with "blue bites?" I've had my braces on for 14 months now, and while the upper teeth moved into position fairly quickly, the lower teeth have been pretty stubborn. I told them that my lower teeth haven't been sore much at all through the treatment, so they could be as aggressive as they'd like.
This last visit, they decided to give me "blue bites." Basically, they glued little blobs of plastic to my back teeth, which keep my jaw permanently chocked open, which is supposed to allow the lower teeth to move better. At this stage of the game I'm perfectly willing to go along with whatever they suggest ("You want to wire my mouth open permanently? Sure, do whatever you wish..."), though I kinda wish they didn't put these things in right before Thanksgiving.
I was told that I'd have the braces on for 18 months, but at the rate things are going, I suspect it'll take much longer than that.

Molar blocks in a blue cement? Quite common; both the orthos I consulted said they'd be necessary. I assume they use blue as it's easier to see when they are removing them. The one I chose went for front turbos which are similar but glued behind the front teeth as they are faster when fixing a deep bite. Can't chew for toffee

I've got those at the moment too. They are a bit annoying. I'm still in the soft foods stage due to extractions, but I already can't wait until they remove the blue stuff.

I've had the blue bites in for close to a month now, and they still feel pretty weird - but to an extent, you do get used to them. It's a little hard biting down with the back teeth, and I feel even more so of an overwhelming urge to brush my teeth immediately after eating something.
But... I suppose if that's what we have to do to get straight teeth, so be it.
I feel bad for my teenage daughter, as she has to have braces a second time, and she is only 16. She started having TMJ pain, and the treatment for that completely messed up her teeth

I must definitely say that if there is metal in the mouth then you definitely need to give rest to your sweet tooth. It's really annoying.

Well, there is an up side to having to give up sweets. I lost 15 pounds in six months without even trying
OK, I've actually gotten used to the blue bites. When they take them out, it looks like my front teeth are going to start smashing into each other. Perhaps they can just leave them in?
