1 week

#1 Post by agreene433834 »

It has been one week since my braces were put on. I must say this has been a very difficult week trying to get adjusted but I think I am getting the hang of it. I have developed a few mouth sores from my brackets rubbing on my cheeks but not terribly bad to where I have to take action. My two front teeth where the most pain was have started to subside. I think it’s so strange that one of my two front teeth hurt way worse than the other but I can handle this pain without taking meds at this point.
Now on to the eating, Eating with braces is very very very difficult. I try to chew certain things or bite into soft things and my teeth still are sore so I am sticking to my soup till I can handle other things. I tried eating some pulled pork in very small portions so I would have to really chew but that was too difficult and I had to find something else. So I am still working on finding out what I can and cannot eat.
I also have encountered some person issues. I am trying to keep the romance in my life but I am nervous having braces. My partner and I do not want to cause any “physical” damage so we have tried to avoid it but eventually we have to figure out something. Is it possible to carry on a successful “love” life or are we going to have to find different measures??

About the food, we need protein so you can try to cook potatoes with beef (the type you use for bolognese, by example) and then use the blender. It is very tasty and nice!

I have the same problem with my boyfriend. I still can't kiss him properly as I am afraid I hurt him, so at the moment I just kiss his lips and that's all! How do you guys handle this?

For once I am glad to be single. Well, for this week anyway!

Worrying about romantic interludes on top of worrying what on earth I'm going to eat or how to talk... it's too much for a girl to process.

I think I might be in self-imposed singledom for the next 8 months. Hehe.
Debraced on Friday 20th September 2013!

Loving my new smile :-D

Too funny! I was having the same thoughts earlier today (24 hours since braces went on). I'm so glad there are others out there that can relate!
