Hi,
I have top and bottom ALF appliances, and am around 7 months in to treatment. Over the last couple of days, I've developed an ulcer on my cheek where it's tight up against one of my lower wisdom teeth (the brace doesn't reach back that far, so my dentist thinks it's the tooth rubbing). I'm finding it impossible to use barrier treatments, because there's no space in between my cheek where the ulcer, and the tooth. I am rinsing with salt water 3 times a day, and using mouth wash......just wondering if anyone has any advice? Would it be possible to try and put some dental wax between the tooth and the cheek do you think? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you!

Roll up a small bit of surgical cotton (gauze) and stuff it between your tooth and your cheek.

Re: Wisdom Tooth Ulcer
also a baby teething gel is great for putting on ulcers- needs to be one made especially for the hospitals it contains lignocaine and a antispectic called chlorhexidine (i know this too as was a vet nurse and we used it for scrubbing pre-surgery lol) brilliant combination for numbing painful ulcers and helps it heal quicker due to the antiseptic. Our local chemist makes it too, but mainly hospitals here do it so have a ask around and your bound to find something similar. goodluck!

Thank you for your replies. Bonjela teething gel has Lidocaine and cetalkonium chloride in it, and I've bought some of that recently, so might give that a go! The main problem is actually reaching the thing, because the tooth is hard up against the cheek. My dentist says it'll move again (no probems previously), so I guess it's a waiting game! I really appreciate the advice.

You can also try Benzodent. It is similiar to orajel, it is a paste like-treatment for dental sores. It works really well and stays in place for a long time. It is best to apply with a q tip.
