I am stubborn and don't like giving in to the pain and soreness. So sitting at work eating my MnMs, and peanuts. (and things I cant in a week). So eat a few, stop, and then its like.
"Holy EFFF that hurts."..
It's about 80% to where I need to stop eating on them though.
Will be interesting how my kids are doing tonight.
139 hours til brace time.
Less than 48 hours for me
I tried eating a subway sandwich today, and yeah, holy eff it hurt.
I have to say the spacers have helped me stick to my diet though... lol

OF I love your posts. They cheer me right up. Always nice to read the funny side of our misery. I sometimes force myself to chew food too. Holy eff it hurts..........seems to cause tooth ache for hours afterwards.
I just got spacers today and they hurt really really bad. I can't eat anything. I hope the other people are right about spacers hurting worse than braces because these hurt so much and I am not ready for more pain in a week.
I've had my spacers on since 8:00 am Monday morning & holy crap ! That day they were a little sore I had a burger it was fine then as the day day went by they got worse since that night I've had smoothies. I've been taking ibuprofen and other pain killers. If braces feel worse than this I'm scared. I have 8 spacers total, two on the top left, top right, bottom left & bottom right. I get my braces next Tuesday, but I only get the top ones done. They still are putting all four metal spacers on. I've are chick-fa-la it was hell, I've ate soft French fries; that was hell, I've had bread, that hurt so bad, I've tried to eat tuna; ouch! I've tried soup, and it literally hurts for my teeth to touch anything. It hurts to brush, it hurts leaning my jaw on my hand or resting it, my phone touching my jaw, and my bottom front teeth hurt, I feel all my teeth moving and being pushed. Idk if maybe it's just me but this is the worst pain ever. I hope wisdom teeth don't hurt more cause I have to get those pulled also. All 4 :'( I'm definitely a goner
I had spacers put in around my upper first molars to make space for an expander, and the surrounding teeth were super sore for about a week.
One thing I've read is that you should avoid taking NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, aspirin) for pain relief because they are anti-inflammatory, and inflammation is good for tooth movement. Instead, some orthos recommend taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) for pain relief, since it doesn't have anti-inflammatory action.

Welcome! I'm in a similar boat to you... I get my braces placed next Monday, though I've had the spacers for a little longer (since July 1, yuck!). It won't be much consolation, but the pain does ebb some after 3-4 days. Aleve and soft foods helped me. Though truth be told, I wouldn't say I was pain-free with the spacers until the past 3 days or so. Good luck next week!
