Powerchain and elastics

#1 Post by Mark1988 »

Almost 4 months, in braces now, felt I was just getting used them, when on friday my Ortho fitted a power chain , and elastics.
the wire is quite sore, and the elastics just seem impossible, but like my braces Just have to get used to them, only have two elastics
but have 8 hooks, my cheeks Just ache. why so many hooks, do some people have to wear several elastics, I can't imagine right now
having to wear more than two elastics.

There are a lot of hooks because they may need to change the configuration. Mine have been changed all over the place. And yes, my cheeks and lips go thru the sore thing all over again, until they toughen up. I do not like my latest configuration at all. I have to talk on the phone a lot, and sometimes I sound just like Daffy Duck!

I was supposed to get elastics at my last checkup but he decided to hold off until my next one. I'll have to change the configuration of my elastics every 8 hours because we want to move teeth but not the alignment of my jaw. Sucks though because it means I need those extra hooks :( Hope things are feeling better again soon.

I started out just with hooks on my molars and upper canines. Throughout my treatment, they have added them as I've had new elastic configurations that have been needed. I'm now up to 20 hooks and all of them have been used. :(

Honestly, some of the elastics have been just fine. Others have had much more pressure and my teeth stay very sore.

I have 2 elastics that I've worn throughout my treatment. My configurations were switched up this week and I'm now in 5 elastics for a while on 11 of my teeth.
