Aw man I guess it may be a little too late for me to buck up on my dental hygiene.
Just earlier, I tried picking off plaque from one of my tooth and as I reach the part nearest to the gums,
I experience extreme sensitivity immediately I started flossing and attempt to clean up area with dental gel and interdental brush and it started bleeding.
My gums are ok, it doesn't look inflamed and they are not red.
However I experience sensitivity everytime I try to pick or scratch the tooth.
Am I experiencing any tooth decay?
Poor dental hygiene problem?

Maybe you should visit your dentist. Have you had a cleaning yet? My ortho said that the wire could be removed the day of my cleaning, then put back on. Either way I would def. address this with my ortho and/or dentist asap.

Is it right along the gumline? Can you see a sort of ridge there or indentation? It sounds like what I have but mine was actually from brushing too hard, not from plaque. When you touch it with a fingernail or toothbrush it's enough to make you want to jump through the roof.
Do go to see your dentist. Mine had to put a patch on that area with the stuff they use for fillings to prevent decay. I've had it on the other side too though as teeth move but it went away. Better safe than sorry though!

Oh gosh I have the same exact symptom! I realized my toothbrush bristles that I was using were too hard. I have since switched them over to soft toothbrush.
What an irony haha, I thought hard bristle toothbrush would dislodge food under brackets better (and clean better)
So um, having those symptoms.. Does that mean we are having receding gums?!
Are the sensitivity reversible?
I'm gonna book a check up soon but damn dentists' schedules are so tight it's hard to secure an appointment

Yep, I was told the same. I use an extra soft toothbrush now that kind of has 3 prongs where the bristles attach because even regular soft toothbrushes I can feel that I scrub away my gumline My dentist told me I need to learn not to jackammer the plaque off my teeth So yes, using a soft toothbrush helps to prevent the problem. Once you've made the gum recede though it stays that way (although the back one I had it happen to was because of the braces and once the tooth moved a bit more it went away, I still got it checked though just in case).
I don't think we have receding gums so much as we've made them do that with brushing too hard.

Sounds like some form of tooth decay-I was just in to the dentist a few weeks ago and they said pretty much the symptoms you mentioned are what you look out for with decay.
I really only ever use soft or extra soft bristles. I already brush 4-5 times a day, so no need to scrape away my tooth enamel. :)

I believe its good you get your teeth cleaned every 6 months so such problems never arise.
