18-24 Months To A SEXY, GAPLESS Smile :D

#1 Post by junglejulie »

Hello!

I am 28 years old, got my braces applied 2/24/2013. This is the best I can do for before pics. My ortho took a lot of pics but I didn't get copies... its really hard for me to put these up, I hate my smile. I am putting this up for future people to reference.

Please do not quote the pics.

These are the best I could do for before pics. I was braced 2/21/2013

I am in a lot of pain. And not really able to eat decent meals still. I am also still uncomfortable in the braces (hence me not putting up a pic yet). I am hoping things will just get better over time.

Agreed!

And hang in there with the pain. I know it can be horrible. You're only on day 2. Your mouth will get used to having them in there. I took photo's on day one and then not again for at least a month I think for the same reason but I promise, it does get better!

How are you getting on?

Once those powerchains are on you will be surprised at how quickly your diastema starts to close.

I had my treatment to close an upper midline diastema-so pleased they are coming off next Monday.

Hey Angel! :-1 I can't wait to see how my teeth are going to look pushed together. When your space finally closed, how did you feel? I am super psyched for you getting your braces off. I know you are happy to almost have this behind you! I checked out your thread and your teeth look really nice. As for me, I am still in pain. My lower arch actually hurts a lot more than my uppers. I can't bite into anything so I have been eat yogurt, soup and broccoli pancakes (they are really soft and delicious). I still need to have a lower incisor extracted so I an very nervous about that. But until I do that, he cannot put powerchains on. I guess I will make that appointment tomorrow.

Haha, don't worry, me too! I'm already on the big countdown. I just noticed today that my ticker says it's been 3 months so I was super excited that I potentially (only.....wait...ONLY?!?!) have 11 months left :GapToothed:

Hi Jungle Julie,
Just wanted to check in to see how you're doing? I see that you still haven't posted any photos. Well, not everyone is ready to "share" those kinds of things right away.
I also have a midline diastema and have been wearing my braces for 4 months now. I have not seen much closure but I went in today for my second adjustment and left with not one but TWO chains -- one on each arch. Ouch! My teeth are very, very sore but I looked in the mirror and it looks like the gap has already started to close a little bit so that's pretty exciting!
I hope you're not still having too much pain. I think I've been pretty lucky up til now. I haven't had much pain at all (or even much discomfort). Oooooh, maybe I'm speaking too soon. I'll just have to see how it goes.

I will try to post the progress pics that my ortho takes every month, I need to have him email them to me. Until then all I have is the before photo.

Lucky to have your powerchains. I am wearing one now, but it is not to close the gap just to prevent it from getting bigger with this wire.

Hi JungleJulie,
It can be a bit of a pain when you have to wait to have pictures emailed to you.
As for my powerchain? I am not a very happy girl right now. My teeth (especially on the bottom) have just been aching and aching since she put them on. They really hurt! I'm not used to this kind of pain because up until now I haven't had any pain with my braces. Only mild discomfort which I could easily manage with Tylenol. So, this is a whole new experience and I must say that I'm not enjoying it very much.

I have a large midline diastema as well. I've had my braces for a month. No change in the gap but, i've seen some changes in the bottom teeth. My ortho said it'll be a while before they work on closing the gap. Not sure what a while is and I didnt bother to ask. Good luck on your braces journey! I'll be following along.

I was chuffed to bits once my diastema had closed and am just anxious/excited to see the finished product next week, as I know there will also be a few minor cosmetic tweaks for the final result.

Just can't wait to smile and have the confidence to do so :-D
