It would have been even better if I had been tied down when they put that thing on. I am SUCH a lightweight and have been SO spoiled by lack of anything resembling pain. :soremouth:

Wow--I have heard so many people have a bad experience with the power chains. I have them doubled on the bottom right now, and then single on the top. The power chains are not my nemesis--it's the elastics....I really don't like wearing elastics...24/7...both sides over 700 days so far....ugghhhh.....

I get my powerchain changed at my next appointment (tomorrow). I kind of hope I still need a new one because I want colours (maybe hot pink!)! The pain for me only lasted a few days but I liked it because I knew I as gatting massive movement. Don't like the clears though because I love eating food with tomato and tomato paste! But double powerchains Klobird? That sounds painful!

Mine only hurt for a few days. My bottom teeth are still a little sore but nothing horrendous. That being said, my top teeth hurt worse than the bottoms and they don't have a powerchain.

I have a silvery coloured one because I wanted to be able to eat curry. Sadly I am still too scared to attempt it!

Going out for a curry tonight since I'm getting my powerchain changed tomorrow. Going to have some fun staining for 12 hours or so but I need a curry if I'm going to have to wait another 6-8 ekks for my next one! I've been planning what to eat for weeks...paneer tikka...yum!

What is the difference between rubber "powerchain" and the springy/slinky "powerchain" things? I now have both in my mouth, and also elastics. I have never known discomfort like this in my life, lol.

Actually, I have not had any pain throughout this process this time and have had lots of movement. Powerchains and elastics were a breeze. I loved the powerchains because they moved things so fast. So have the elastics.

I do, however, remember the pain from my upper incisors when I first got braces the first time over 50 years ago. I remember playing basketball the next day and accidentally biting down hard on my front teeth. Still remember the excruciating pain. This time around pretty much nothing beyond slight discomfort at the beginning of my journey.

I wish I could share the painlessness with all of you!

Do bottle it and FedEx me some! Actually, I've been the same, no pain, but this latest had my knees up almost on my chest, that bad. You would think that would not be healthy... :?

So is pain at the end of treatment worst than the pain at beginning? I don't remember.

I am like "pain? what pain? powerchains, elastics, braces, those things hurt?" ..... when I read about pain while I don't have pain. The pain they cause all feels like a long distant memory. And then out of blue, I get pain and I sympathize with everyone in pain.

Right now I don't have pain. So I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

An anecdote. My DH told me that braces were a breeze for him. He didn't have any pain or discomfort and strongly encouraged me to go for them while I was in the considering stage. Once I got braces, I told him that he had misled and tricked me because they were so painful. Now that I easily forget the pain I had yesterday, I understand that my DH just forgot the pain and didn't intentionally trick me.
