Are they perfect?

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

I can relate to everyone in this thread. I'm due to get my braces off soon and I know I will be picky once they're off. Are my teeth perfect? No, far from it. Are they 'perfect' compared to before? Definitely. The improvement is brilliant. But having had these on for nearly 2 years it's almost become easy to get use to each movement and improvement to the point where I expect more and more improvement on top of that, if that makes sense. So it's as if it's a never ending cycle which drives me absolutely insane. I get so far and I'm finally happy then I see something while flossing (when I have to look real close up in the mirror so I see EVERYTJING) that I am not happy with and it starts all over again :(

Now if by magic I could have gone from my before teeth to how they are now in 1 week, even in 1 month, I know I would have been totally over the moon with joy to have these straight teeth. I wouldn't have picked because the difference is from before is huge. It just seems because it's a very gradual and sometimes long process we have too much time to get used to things and then seek further improvement maybe.

I lack confidence anyway. I am always putting myself down, especially my looks. I also suffer with depression and I am probably an extreme case with my pickiness (can be seen in my story lol).
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months

I picked out all the imperfections till my boyfriend picked out all the perfections for me <3 <3 <3 and like she said its never going to be 100% for me but anything is better than what it was and they all seen my teeth at her office before and they're shocked how good it even was able to get.
