Does anyone have Clarity Advanced?

#1 Post by hansencat »

I had Clarity Advanced brackets fitted five days ago. My orthodontist said said they are the latest thing in ceramic brackets, but now they're on my teeth I really hate them.

Yes, they are small but they look really chunky. Do all ceramic brackets stick out quite a long way from the teeth?

I haven't been able to find any pictures of real people wearing clarity advanced, just the models in the company's brochure. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive because I've only had them a few days, but I think they look really odd.

I have them too both upper and lower and agree with all you have said _ they're chunky and the wire and ligs don't stay looking perfect for long! I am 4 weeks in and am much more used to them now so hopefully you'll stop disliking them so much soon. Changing to metal wasn't an option as I'd already paid and wouldn't get back the difference in cost as they are now on. The main thing is that they move teeth and do their job. And remember, they are temporary! Good luck with your treatment.

I have Clarity ceramic uppers and YES! They are a bit chunky. I got mine this past friday and my lips is still trying to get used to them. It took me awhile to decide and i was like you and couldn't find many pictures of real people. I decided to go ahead with them because eventually, my teeth will be nice and straight and i will be able to smile wide and beautifully. You can't really see them on pictures. Ive tried so many different angles and even putting my hand above my mouth to make some contrast and not much visibility at all. No one I've talked to in person has really noticed them. They all had to get a foot within my face to even notice i had them. Eventually the protruding braces feeling will go away. I was mostly concerned with how they would look since i don't have perfectly white teeth AND i have big teeth WITH an overbite so you can imagine the nervousness when deciding. I think we will be fine and if anyone is debating it, i say go for it. Something made you want them in the first place. People will always notice that you have braces no matter what they are and who cares? I just rather continue creating memories smiling rather than covering my metal because i'll be in pictures. Oh! i have a metal wire because i feel like the tooth colored wire is too much contrast compared to the clear brackets and the coating comes off anyway and looks bad (my tech told me that) and with the help of someone on here, i went with the smoke colored ligs instead of the invisible clear (my tech said she prefers them over clear anyway). Last night i had chow mein with soy sauce, beijing beef and orange chicken and NO discoloring of the ligs! So far, I'm very satisfied, hopefully soon my upper lip will feel the same way lol

I have clarity on the bottom teeth and damon self ligating on the top. Compared to the damon s/l brackets I LOVE my clarity one's! I find they have a shallower profile and don't feel nearly as pointy as my s/l brackets do. I hardly ever get any rubbing on the bottom but my uppers rub like crazy.

They do feel really big at first but as touchofhiddencharm said, the feeling does ease up (took me a couple of weeks). They still feel a bit big if I have a dry mouth or am tired at the end of a long day but otherwise I do feel like I can close my mouth over them.

Give them some time, you'll get used to them and as a bonus hardly anyone seems to notice you're in braces :)

I have Invu ceramic brackets top and bottom. Not sure how they compare size wise to the Clarity brackets, however they felt so enormous and bulky for the first few weeks until I got used to them. Initially I wasn't able to fully close my lips over them but that feeling will dissipate shortly once your mouth adjusts. Now I hardly even notice I'm wearing braces.

I've just had my braces fitted with Clarity ceramic brackets (upper and lower) with metals just on my molars (I had 2nd premolars extracted). I really like them, they aren't particularly visible at all. They don't feel horrendous in my mouth, but maybe I should wait until tomorrow to see how they feel then!
