4 days into treatment

#1 Post by agrace90 »

I'm four days into treatment (24 months) and have had slight achyness. I haven't used any wax yet on my brackets and just wasn't sure if I'm lucky and really thought it would be much worse or if the worst is yet to come. Does anyone have the same experience? I feel the constant pressure which is quite annoying but other than that I've had no pain, besides chewing. No cuts or blisters in my mouth either! The ONLY thing is my lips have peeled like crazy and I've been wearing chapstick constantly, that has seemed better yesterday and today though. My mouth seems somewhat dry and my teeth haven't been sensitive to hot or cold things but have been to the air I breathe through my mouth sometimes.
Sorry this is all over the place I just want to know if it's normal to have the pain delayed. I have Damon system on...not sure if that makes much of a difference. This is my first time with braces at 22! I've been so excited for the end result.

Thanks for any reply

There's quite a few people on here who have had no pain. And quite a few of us who have! Everyone is different. It's all normal :)

Welcome to the forum and to braces

I think it all depends on the individual, glad you haven't got any pain :) Mine didn't hurt intially, but a few days in I started to need wax for lips and cheek wise a bit of wax sorted it all out :) welcome to the forum and I hope you stay pain free :) My lips were like that too, swear I went through a whole thing of vaseline in the first month  they'll settle down

I think everyone is different. I got braced on Thursday ( I'm 30), and at first had no discomfort until a few hours later. I am still on soft food and my teeth are so sore when I bite into anything. I was told this can last up to a week and a few days after adjustments. The pain doesn't worry me too much as I know its obviously working. I could murder a steak right now though lol. I keep thinking about food!
Started treatment to correct open bite non surgically

My Story so far: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtop ... 13&t=44572

Braces & intrusion appliance fitted 23/5/13 - journey has now fully begun.

I've been like you: pressure but no pain. I only needed wax when my ortho put hooks on my molars and then only for a few days.

Thanks guys. I was just hoping I was in the clear, at least until my first adjustment!
