Hi all
I'm 48 hours from surgery so I thought I better check out what I'm in for. I'm having a lower jaw advancement and haven't really done any research so I have some catching up to do. My surgeon says that I should plan to not have any meetings with clients for about two weeks but that I should be able to sit at my computer and answer emails within a few days. Does that sound realistic?
Any advice regarding anything to do with this surgery would be awesome.
TIA,
Chris

Re: Lower jaw surgery in 48 hours
Hello,
My upper jaw leforte 1 surgery was on Tuesday, June 4th... so I am home now recovering. I came home from the hospital on Thursday, although I was admitted for same day surgery, the surgeon was concerned about the loss of blood from my nose and my ablity to breathe comfortably.... so I stayed longer than anticipated. However, I will tell you this... I felt fairly week from ingesting only clear liquids for several days - energy levels were low for several days after surgery. But now I am getting back to normalcy... with the exception of looking like a chipmunk, and speaking in a garbled language that is difficult to comprehend. My husband is beginning to understand what my "mmmm" or "u huh / na-uh" mean, assisted with pointing of course. Relax, read some blogs about other peoples experiences... many people offer wonderful tips on surviving the eating dilemma or coughing, yawning.. OUCH!!! But honestly, I caught up on work emails the day after I came home from the hospital! It is one of the few things I can do to communicate... I'm in little pain... ice packs relieve the pressure, and take breaks often when you feel if you are overdoing things... Good Luck to you!

Re: Lower jaw surgery in 48 hours
I had the same surgery just over a week ago and my swelling has gone down great by getting up and back to normal as quickly as possible! I actually booked 6 weeks off work not knowing how quickly I'd recover. 2-3 weeks is fine. I really got anxious as it was my first operation... But you wake up and it is done, it's that easy! Nothing to worry about at all my friend and I wish you the very best!

Back on ward. Like Luke said, nothing to it. Was watching Hot Fuzz before op and am now back on ward watching the end. Starving hungry but Otherwise fine. Face full of local anaesthetic so just waiting for pain to kick in.

Congratulations! Good thinking, i took a portable dvd player with me and watched through an idiot abroad. As for the pain, again it was nothing at all... Best of luck.Dweezel wrote:Back on ward. You could wait long before pain kicks in. In my case there were never any kind of pain. Hopefully you wont have any. Good luck on your healing process.
