I survived adjustment 2.0...
Not sure why, but went from a 10 on the pain scale at Adjustment 1.0 to virtually 0 pain this time with basically the same procedures.
Took total of 4 ibuprofen in the hour or so beforehand.

is that your 2nd adjustment? i had mine yesterday and had a bit of pain but not to bad
great work! i also took 2 ibrupfen before hand!

Re: I survived adjustment 2.0...
My 2nd was a whole lot more gentle than my first too. They seem to hurt less with each one (you watch, my next one will be through the roof again now I've said that!)

That is fully expected. Each new adjustment visit is goign to be easier and easier (less pain). The hardest is always the first. I've gone thru so many that each new adjustment i no longer feel any pain at all...i just go back to eatting hard foods the next day.

It may not be that the actual "pain" is any less after the first few visits, rather you adapt to the pain and don't notice it as much.
I didn't have all that much pain after my adjustments, although for the first year of my treatment, the adjustment day and a day or so following was a bit rough...but nothing too bad.

for me the actual adjustment doesn't hurt but a couple of teeth the next day ache and are tender for a day or two..

Re: I survived adjustment 2.0...
The only ever pain I really felt adjustment wise was the initital power chain that I had put on, that did hurt

I have had 4 adjustments so far and the only thing that hurts is when they put the power chain on. Those are terrible!! I always take some ibuprofen a couple hours before my apppointment.

I certainly hope this is a trend!Tobilei wrote:My 2nd was a whole lot more gentle than my first too. They seem to hurt less with each one (you watch, my next one will be through the roof again now I've said that!)

I only took them the first day after braces, but even then it wasn't too bad.seeker304 wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't take painkillers?
I've had a lot of adjustments, even though I'm only at 4.5months. My brackets used to snap quite often for the first 2 months or so, and for every visit my ortho would take the oportunity to tweak here and there. I'm glad he did, it sure helped my progress so far.

I rarely take an NSAID but would encourage anyone in pain to treat it and not let it persist.

I don't feel like they do anything so I don't worry about it either.seeker304 wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't take painkillers?
