Flying post op

#1 Post by June2013 »

Any one know the guidelines for flights?
I had my upper jaw done a week ago and have been told I don't need to be back at the orthodontist for two weeks :)
Thinking of recovering in the sun but unsure if flying is safe?
Thanks

I would call and ask the surgeon. I think the main concern would be risk of blood clot so soon after the surgery.

What are you going to eat when on vacation? Can't imagine too many places will offer blended food options :P

As well as your surgeon, you would also need to check with your airline as they often won't let you fly for a certain amount of time after surgery. The airline wouldn't let me fly for 14 days. I flew at 4 weeks and it was a little uncomfortable but fine.
