fixing crossbite (and open bite) with braces and elastics?

Hello!

I have a unilateral crossbite (crossbite on one side). I don't think it is too severe, but I was recommended SARPE for this. For now, I decided against this (too invasive for me) and I am in braces now to get at least some improvement.
Next adjustment, I will get elastics to close my open bite. But I was wondering, can braces and elastics also fix a crossbite, at least to some extent?
Are there also others here who decided to get their open bite and crossbite fixed with braces and elastics only? Was is succesful?

Me! I have an open bite and crossbite and my ortho said to get everything 100% I would need surgery, but I was not prepared to endure or pay for that. Without surgery I'm only guaranteed 70% improvement overall. (could be more, but 70% guaranteed) I am only 2 weeks in, but I am starting a crossbite elastic on my first adjustment in 3 weeks. Looks like we are in a similar boat together.

Indeed, it looks like we are in a similar boat together. I wish you very good luck with your treatment and hope you will get more than 70% improvement. But 70% improvement would also be great already!

I got my braces a week ago, and was given crossbite elastics on day 1. They are very uncomfortable, but I can tell they're working... Things are moving..

You were also recommended SARPE, weren't you? And I think you refused? Hopefully braces and elastics will give you a good result. I wish you very good luck with your treatment. Please keep us updated!

Yes, I was recommended SARPE... Too much money, too invasive, too much time off work (2-3 weeks at home, the surgeon said!)

So going the Damon braces + elastics route to get as good as a result as we can

The hooks on the insides of my upper arch are annoying to my tongue, but pain is much less generally

I really hope you get good results with braces only? Do/did you have a bad crossbite?
