hi everyone just finally took the plunge and got my braces fitted upper and lower ceramics the only problem is i drink herbal tea instead of normal tea decaf ones mostly green tea and one cup of camomile and one cup of peppermint will these stain the ligatures as i really drink them as they help me relax will using a straw be ok i also always drink water at the same time thanks .

I've not had a problem with my herbal tea staining (and I drink both a pink one and a purple coloured one). Do you have ligatures at all? My ligs (bottom only, don't have them on the top) haven't been bothered but I get smoke coloured, not clear.

is ligatures not the bands as ive got clear ones on

Ligatures are the little rubber bits that go around the bracket. They can stain, the self ligating one's (the one's with little doors) don't though. Either way, herbal tea shouldn't be a problem.

I have ceramic self ligating braces and I haven't noticed them staining from tea and I drink hot tea all the time (both herbal and black). I do notice a pink hue to the brackets sometimes after drinking a red drink. I just brush with baking soda and it comes right off.

Herbal and green tea should be fine.

I had a MAJOR problem with enamel (not bracket) staining with the tannins in regular hot tea...

The ceramic brackets won't stain but if you have ligatures (the little rubber bands around the brackets), they will stain. I have metal ties instead of ligatures and can eat anything. My brackets are still as unstained as the day I got them 7 months ago.

Hi, I have drunk both and had no problems but even if they did I wouldnt give up!! Your already in braces dont give up all your joys and pleasures!
