I went out for mexican food a couple of weeks ago with some co-workers and ordered a soft taco instead of a hard one (it was a special request as a hard taco came with my choice). One of my co-workers noticed and said "Oh that's right you can't eat hard tacos with braces, poor you) I laughed and replied "Oh I can still eat them, it's just that you wouldn't want to be the one sitting across from me when I do because its like watching a 3 year old eat. I haven't heard a thing about what I can and can't eat anymore

This is how I feel but when I'm brushing my teeth (sorry a little off topic!). I've yet to manage one single brushing without spraying the entire bathroom mirror with toothpastedebinator wrote:I laughed and replied "Oh I can still eat them, it's just that you wouldn't want to be the one sitting across from me when I do because its like watching a 3 year old eat.
Re: Annoyed at people with no braces!
Just had an adjustment last week and my co-worker continues to say things like: if you just stop thinking about the pain, then it will go away or the pain is all in your head...mind over matter. She encouraged me to call my ortho as she couldn't understand why my teeth were so sore.
I spend a majority of the day at work in the bathroom brushing...well at least it feels that way. People ask me all the time why I have to brush after each meal. Some of them had braces as kids and comment how they only brushed twice a day. Ummm...GROSS. Honestly, I'm doing THEM a favor by maintaining good hygiene practices. One can only laugh!!

I'm not braced yet, but since I've been mulling over getting them, I've noticed other people's teeth a lot more than usual. And pain is subjective, that sounds so annoying!
Re: Annoyed at people with no braces!
I think some of those remarks are misdirected attempts to be helpful and supportive. Sounds weird I know, but in my (clinical) past I heard a lot of insane things from visitors trying to support their loved ones. I think people in general mean well (with some notable exceptions documented on this thread) but their execution sucks.

Now I feel bad for telling you yesterday that my powerchains dont hurt. If it makes things better I cant eat right. I tear/cut everything into little pieces like for a 2 yr old.
