I just joined today after randomly clicking through a blog about the 6 month smiles, but I'm so glad I did!. I love seeing the progress of other people's 6 month smile and reading about how much confidence is gained as a result. I got my braces on July 9th and fingers crossed it will come off before new years (maybe?). I'm still awaiting my first tightening on august 15th, but already I see movement. Even my friend noticed and told me "your teeth have improved", I'm glad I opted for something that wasn't overtly visible yet suitable to treat a straightforward case like mine.
Thanks for replying guys!
I had my first adjustment last week which hurt slightly, mainly the filing (ouch). But after that I was fine, no pain or anything. Dentist is pleased with my progress and to help it he has put some criss cross wires on my lower row of teeth. Next adjustment/ tightening on the 12 of September 2013. Just before I'm back to studying!
Hi! I'm 6 days into my projected 9 month treatment, got my first checkup on the 4th of September. Did your teeth feel "loose" pretty much immediately after fitting? I can really feel mine moving!
Good luck with your treatment, hope you get the results you're looking for

Thank you and you too!. Oh and yes!. It was such a strange feeling at first, especially getting used to how bulky the braces were. I couldn't even close my mouth and the brackets kept getting caught inside of my lip which hurt so bad (dental wax was amazing for this). Now, I'm completely pain free and my teeth are moving so I'm really happy so far. It's nice to finally have a solution to years of being so self conscious of my smile.
week nine and I've gotten new wires again. The dentist was very happy with the movement of my teeth and said that just a few teeth need "tweaking" and that I'm in the "last stages" of the braces. Fingers crossed I can still get them off by my goal of the December 31st. The dentist filed between my teeth to make space for movement which hurt so bad, but I keep in my head all this pain is very temporary. He mentioned that one of my front teeth is currently longer than the other, but since it is still early days and movement is still happening I just need to wait and see if it aligns itself enough to be equal with my other teeth. Also saw the before photo of my teeth at the practice and *CRINGE*. I actually couldn't believe how bad they were, like I knew my teeth weren't great but DAMN!. I'm so excited by the progress and my future with a beautiful smile. Here's my progress so far....
