My Story 30yrs

#1 Post by fsaq »

Hi everyone, im currently on my second day with braces (Im 30yrs old male). Yesterday wasnt that bad, i even ate a full size taco for dinner, i dont think it will happen again any time soon. 2nd time with braces, didnt wear my retainers as a keed, bottom teeth got crooked, fast forward 15yrs later began to have some gum recession, nothing serious, and my jaw began clicking, dentis told me I should get my teeth fixed.
the whole process began with full x-rays just to be sure that my teeth were healthy, matter was my front lower incisor showed a little black hole at the bottom, they told me I needed Root canal therapy, any ways that didnt work out, they could find a canal and finally my dentist and orthodontis decided that the best option was tooth extraction, better now than latter as the prognosis for the tooth was that sometime in the near future it would require extraction.
Las friday was my extraction, yesterday monda first day with braces, just the bottom ones for now, in 3 months i will be getting my top ones.

Anyhow, I consider myself a foodie and i know that will be my biggest battle, not being able to go out and eat the whole time without getting a overly anxious about cleaning and brushing my teeth, they say you get used to it but i'll see.

Apart from "banned" foods like nuts, I have no problem eating. Given time, this will be your situation too.

You'll do just fine. Other than the banned foods like nuts & corn chips, I've figured out a way to eat just about everything else. I can't do it on adjustment day for sure, but give it two days after that and it's back to normal. Steak, etc. No problem. Just cut things in smaller pieces. And, restaurant eating is no big deal either. I have to do business dinners all the time and I've had no problems as long as I choose wisely when I order - like passing on the spinach salad.
