I am waxed to the max and have no complaints. I'm almost a month into this journey already!
OH YES! :-=
I have days where they don't bother me one bit ( I can't say that I don't think about them tho), and there are days where I wish I could "take them off" just for a bit....
Which proves my point to my self that Invisalign would have been a disaster for me! :paperbag: NOT enough self control...

I can't believe that it is almost 3 weeks since I had them installed. I have learned that I really DO love my almonds and dearly miss them! I still can't chew/bite anything hard or even hardish...
I wait for the day when I can, which will prob. be the day before an adjustment, and then they will hurt again....vicious cycle....
But so far today is a good day. I am making choc. chip cookies, cherry hand pies and beef jerky for my DH who is going hunting for a week tomorrow... :).... give him good reason to think about me every time he eats

I just saw this post and see that you have nearly exactly the same problem with your teeth (actually mainly the bite problem). I tell people that braces (my metal ones that are quite noticeable) are cheaper and better than dentures! I got braces on in April and can't wait until they are off. Unfortunately the ortho gave a big range (12 to 20 months).

I feel the same way about MY teeth vs dentures!
I too have all metal braces, and I have to say I don't mind them one bit. I am looking forward to the rainbow of colors I can have for ligs and I am having a good time looking for movement (only a tiny bit so far :) )
My ortho has told me it will be about 30 months... well that was at the consultation before I started. IDK how long really, but I am planning on it being that long- so anything earlier will be a fun surprise :)

I miss eating some of my favorite foods including healthy snacks (like almonds). I was doing good with the braces pain and annoyance until my 3rd adjustment when I got elastics. I realize they are the most important part of this process that will fix my bite, but they just added another layer of annoyance. I have a different perspective about the treatment time that you (who has the right attitude and seems to be very positive). At my initial consult, the ortho said it would be closer to 12 months and did not mention elastics. The day I got braces put on, he said it would be closer to 18 months and I would need elastics. At my first adjustment, the ortho assistant said that the treatment time could be 24 months! I am 42 years old and my teeth are apparently being stubborn. I would do better if I knew exactly when I would get the braces off, but it sounds like that is dependent on too many different factors to predict accurately. I have my next adjustment in 2 days - maybe there will be better news.

I ate almonds yesterday for the first time... very carefully :) They are m fav. go to snack!
I am sure I will be having elastics too at some point, considering I have a mouth full of hooks...
I am 43, and I am sure due to my age, it will take time for my teeth to move as well. I know that they are at the very loose feeling stage right now... I love to "click" them back and forth. hahah... the ways I entertain my self... :)

Prior to my braces I ate them every single day. They were/are my go to snack, as well as part of almost every meal. I have been missing them so very much- that I decided to try them. Well I did manage to eat them, I did have to chew VERY slowly, and it was painful... :-((
BUT on the upside... They were SO GOOD!! :jump:
I will not be eating them every day for sure, but it is good to know that I can eat them if I want to, at least until I have an adjustment and my teeth are killing me again... :soremouth:

Well I have had to go back to the ortho 2 times since I have gotten my braces 3 weeks ago. I have molar buildups on two of my top molars. Well I am a notorious tooth grinder/clencher, and 1 week after getting my braces I had wore them down to the point where I was hitting teeth. I went in and they built them up extra high (oh joy! :-= ), told me to see how they were doing in a week and go from there. WELL.... 2 weeks later... I have worn down the left one again, but this time I am not hitting teeth, I am hitting on the right side more then the left. So my bite is uneven, and due to a tipped bottom molar, my bite is making the bottom molar hurt like there is no tomorrow. I tried to ignore it, and the feeling that it is rocking back and forth every time I bite down, but today I finally gave up and called the ortho. I feel like I'm such a bother to them (they don't make me feel that way, that is just how I feel having to go in so many times in 3 weeks), anyway, the assistant explained to me about the tipped molar, built up the left side again, and told me not to worry about how many times I needed to go back in to get them built up. She said that until I was in heaver wires, and they stated working on the placement/movement of the molars it was going to be an issue with the tipped molar.
BUT... on the upside.. I got my ligs changed to smoke colored ones since I was getting my work badge photo today and really did not want blue ligs on my teeth in the pic for the year :). She also put a power chain between two teeth to help encourage a stubborn front incisor that is very rotated. Hopefully this will help enough that they can then change the bottom wire at my first "real" adjustment (vs the mini one I got today;) ) so that they can start moving that dumb tipped molar, and hopefully get my bite issue sort of sorted out.

Be careful with the almonds. My 13 yr old managed to completely break a band in half by chewing almonds to the point where the whole edge of the bank was poking straight out sideways into his cheek. I was able to bend the band back in a bit and completely encase the tooth in a stuff like substance that the ortho provided whose name will be removed from the forum if I post.

I don't really see that much of a change in my teeth... sure some small stuff, but I keep looking every day. I think I need to just sit down and compare my pics again... I too have a ton of pics on my phone- but I have such a hard time taking pics of my teeth... sigh... I want them to be all from the same angle, and they never are... maybe after 2 years or so I will figure it out.. hahah

Today is my 1 month braceiversary!!!!
I can't believe how fast it has gone. I am still looking for movement every day- but not seeing a whole lot. Tiny bits here and there... I want the big party to begin.. I guess that starts to happen when you get a wire changed?
Good thing I have plenty of time to see... <sigh> 24-30 months time to be exact!

UGH! I am so sorry to hear that you have the flu!!
I just wish I could have a first... no pain day... mmmm.. that would be divine! Every day I have some pain or other- today it is the inside of my cheek... keeps rubbing and is so painful!
I went back to work 3 days ago, and I am worried about the flu too... it goes thru the schools every year, and every year I get sick.. it is just a matter of time.. +\+
Get better- and I will be thinking of your 1 month brace day tomorrow :rose:
