Choosing your orthodontist?

#1 Post by Sugarfly »

Hi everyone! :-1

I'm looking into getting braces and currently have the choice of two orthos, both have lots of experience, but one has more qualifications and therefore is considered a 'specialist orthodontist' BOS the other isn't (I'm in the UK and searched them both on the BOS register, but to be honest I'm not exactly sure what it means...?!). the more qualified ortho uses Radiance brackets and is much more expensive, the other uses 3m clarity.

The more qualified ortho would see me every 4-6 weeks, the other one would see me every 8-12 weeks... This is a big difference and I'm guessing important!?

I like the more qualified ortho as they've been really helpful answering questions etc and seem to be very 'on it'... I haven't met the other ortho yet but I have a consultation booked for next month...

To be honest I would like to go with the more qualified ortho as I think they'd do a good job and I'm sick of waiting now... but its so much more expensive and if the results going to be the same, why pay more?!?!

Anyone have any advice or know anything about the importance of being considered a specialist on the BOS register?!

Thanks in advance!!

:D
