Post Surgery Eating

I've read many helpful hints and advice about tbe post-operative time. I've got my Ninja blender and I'm ready! But wondering this: why wouldn't it work to use heavier zip lock bags with the corner cut off to squeeze that yummy purée into my mouth? The syringes are still tbe standard back up that you get upon discharge apparently. I'm wanting to pay attention to healthy eating then, as I do now.

Hmm, good idea. It works for frosting, so I'd think as long as the puree is thin enough that the bag wouldn't split. I might have to give it a shot.

Off-hand the first thing that comes to mind is that commercials aside, ziploc bags really aren't meant to be squeezed. I could see a couple very messy disasters in your future. Also, you have no way to stop the flow unless the food is really thick.

My Mom purchased some squirt bottles (like the kind you see ketchup and mustard in in cheap restaurants) from the cake decorating dept. of the local craft store. That'd be a lot safer. (I turned out not to need them as my surgeon usually doesn't band people shut (even double jaw!)... you might want to ask your surgeon what he does; I thought everybody got banded shut, with a few unlucky souls getting wired. I was pleasantly surprised when I went home with a pair of light elastics.)
