Kids041....OMG!! I think I am going to live!! I went to work today...not feeling the best. I knew I was just hungry and more than likely dehydrated. I ate toast for lunch...and after that....the day was just better and better. Whatever it was....is gone!!!
I have been braced for 1 month!! I know I am so lucky on the pain issue. I have a hook on top that makes its presence known from time to time. But I have never regretted my braces. After my adjustment...the next day...I had an extremely sore molar...top left. It was not fun. I thought..this how the ones in pain feel all the time! It lasted a day...and gone....IF I leave it alone!

Re: Let the Journey Begin....
Well I have a very sore front tooth! UGH.... I guess that means maybe there is going to be movement, but I had forgotten how sore sore could be.
On a good note, my daughter is having her baby today I will be a grandma again!! can't wait

Re: Let the Journey Begin....
Well I am not seeing a whole lot of major tooth movement yet, just mostly leveling.
I know it is still early- but I guess I am just impatient... My molar build-ups continue to give me issues of wearing down quickly, but other then frequent visits to the ortho to have them built up again, there is nothing I can do.
Some days are easier then others. I have days where I don't even think much about them, then I have days where I have talked more, and they rub and are driving me nuts by the end of the day (those are wax nights for sure!).
I have my first adjustment in 16 days.. I hope enough has changed by then to get the wires changed. My ortho likes to make apts for 8 weeks apart.. so if the wire does not get changed.. it will feel like forever to the next apt.

Re: Let the Journey Begin....
I can definitely see some movement in the bottom teeth!
Re: Let the Journey Begin....
What a huge difference already. The first wire seems to produce the most noticeable changes as teeth start to level out and rotate but I know what you mean by being impatient. Just hang in there and enjoy the whole experience.
Re: Let the Journey Begin....
I got my first adjustment on Oct 1st. They changed the top wire only. My bottom front tooth was still too rotated to have the wire stay in both sides of the bracket. They "super tied" it with extra rubberbands hoping to help it along. <sigh>...
I got a NiTi (sp?) wire on the top. One of the heat sensitive ones.... My top teeth are VERY sore on only one side... must be the side that has the most moving to do..
I have only eaten soft foods since then... OH wait... I did eat onion rings with a knife and fork and only chewed on the left side... very interesting experience... I accidentally chewed on my right side... YIKES! talk about sharp pain...
anyway... here are some updated pics... I don't see a whole lot going on- but I am sure that it is....
but on the upside.... my bite feels more stable now that I have a stronger wire in the tops. I find that weird, but true.

Hi JeniK!JeniK wrote:Kids041.....Have not heard from you lately..wondered how you are doing? New grandbaby ? Can you believe we are coming to our 2 month mark already!!!!
I just posted last week, after I got my first adjustment. I put pics up from week one, and week 8. Some progress, but not as much as I was hoping for.
They were not able to change my bottom wire... dumb rotated lower incisor (not one of the front two, but the one to the right of it in the pics, with the extra pink lig on it)!! It is taking its time moving, and will need "at least 8 more weeks" to rotate enough that they can change my wire <sigh>......
But I did get a new wire on top.. and they connected my last molars on top as well... Needless to say.. I have only started eating regular food (allbeit soft still) today. That darn last molar was causing some serious pain! I was only able to chew even the soft foods on the left side for almost this whole week!! I am still cautious about chewing on that side- as it was so painful every time I accidentally got food over there!!
I am still looking for movement, and do see some very tiny bits. I notice it most when I'm flossing, there are spaces between my teeth that the floss just goes into with no resistance. Must be spaces opening up between those teeth!!
Re: Let the Journey Begin....
Hi
You may not be noticing the movement so much, but looking at your pictures, your wires have straightened a lot. That means there has been movement you may not even be aware of.
I found throughout my treatment that I couldn't judge my progress by wire changes. Some really important steps were just from minor adjustments. I had wires as short as a week and as long as 14 months. It really depended on what was needed for that next step of progress.
Just make sure you ask your dentist questions at each visit so you understand what he is trying to achieve next.
Early in my treatment, in addition to the tooth movement, I had a lot of arch development that needed to take place on my uppers. It was very slow and not so noticeable but wow, it looks good now. I didn't see it in the day-day achievements, but over time.
Stay strong with the tenderness. It will get better.
