So I was debanded yesterday. I come home today after work and guess what was waiting for me? A mail from my ortho.
I thought to myself maybe it is a congratulations for your debanding card or something. I was wrong. The letter says my treatment ended now and now I am in retention period, therefore I have to pay $45 whenver I see my ortho. The thing is, I am still paying for my brace treatment because my pay plan is 24 month, which was also my original sentence for braces. It happened that I could be brace free at 20 month mark. The contract did say I will have to pay $45 for retention, but I didn't know the retention starts on the following day after I am debanded.
How was your experience? Did your ortho start to bill you as soon as your braces were off?

Golly!! My payments are for a little over 24 months and my treatment plan includes a year of retainer checkups. I think thats only going to an appointment every 3 months. However, Im paying $7000 for treatment. So depending how much you paid for your treatment you may still be getting a good deal.

If the contract says the fee about the retention, I don't see any issues.
I'm sure they send out that letter to every person who is scheduled for a debanding a couple days before the debanding appointment.

WOW I guess I am lucky. I went to my orthodontist to address a minor relapse of one of my teeth after not seeing him for almost 7 years!

your doc can present any treatment plan he wants in a contract. if you signed it ....................
Re: My Ortho Doesn't Waste a Minute
I am happy to report that my ortho hasn't charged anything for my post-brace visits and for the Hawley retainers on top of Essix. My guess is that they send out the letter as a routine just in case something big caused by patients happens.
