Deen's Dents - 24 Years - Braced 12/14/2011

#1 Post by Deens Dents »

Hello Everyone! :)

I've posted an introduction here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41003 ... So I won't go through it all again. :)

So my first adjustment is tomorrow, and I'm now 4 days away from my one month "braceversary". I can't believe it's already been a month. The first few weeks sucked - I hardly ate anything solid due to the fact that my teeth felt all wiggly and weird, and I didn't trust them at all. I've only just started being able to bite into things and eat normally, and now I'm back to the ortho. I figure it'll all be worth it in the end though. Keepin' my eye on the prize!

I did break a bracket about a week back though :( My molar build ups took quite a beating from my grinding habit, and are much lower than where they started off at. Then my top eye tooth, kept hitting the bottom bracket, and eventually it just popped off. Ah well, ortho didn't seem too concerned, and it gets fixed tomorrow anyhow! I just love that those teeth touch now! They've never touched before!! <3

I'm amazed by how much movement I can notice in my own teeth. Other people aren't really noticing it (other than my mom! :P), but that's okay. I can feel the differences, and that's all that matters at this point. I can't figure out how to get my pictures to go side-by-side, but as soon as I do, I'll be sure to post some pictures of my progress so far! The pictures really show how some teeth have moved their way into a better place.

... and most importantly, brushing, flossing, etc has moved from a near 40 minute ordeal to under 20 :D yayy!!

Thanks for reading guys! :)

Hi!! I was braced the same time you were! I really haven't seen much progress on top (overbite and overjet), but the bottom arch has changed a lot. I didn't take a pic at the beginning but my ortho said he'd share his photos with me so I hope to get them soon. Can't wait to see your photos!

Hello everyone!

So, I haven't been around in a while! But yesterday, I had this sudden realization that I've been wearing my braces for nearly 2 years now, which made me think of this board, and now here I am. :)

So far, everything has been pretty good. I haven't had too much to complain about through the whole process. I am disappointed that I won't be getting them off in the anticipated time frame though. My original treatment plan had estimated 18-24 months, and now I'm at the 22 month point with a pending jaw surgery. I guess they need the braces to keep everything in place after the jaw surgery, so it'll be a while longer yet. I'm hoping by next summer I'll be bracefree! *fingers crossed*

Anyway, here's a photo of my progress so far:

Thanks!!

Hello again,

So today was a big day for me! I have officially paid off my braces - in full - as of noon today! It's a day I never thought would actually come lol. It's a good feeling to see the balance section reflect a big fat $0. :)

Anyway, had an adjustment today. Everything seems to be moving along really well. He says they're almost ready for surgery. I had my pre-surgical moulds done at my last appointment, but I haven't heard anything from the surgeon yet, so my ortho said he'd send along a note to the surgeon to see what's going on. The anticipation is killing me! :P

Otherwise, nothing too crazy happened. Wire change, colour change (back to purple - yay!), and more elastics (so.many.elastics!). This time I was told to wear them for about 10 hours a day rather than the 8 hours I was previously instructed to wear them for. I got the elastics about 4 months ago, and was told that they were meant to make my overbite worse. It's hard watching my teeth straighten out and my bite get worse, but that's okay - It's all in the name of straight teeth!

Just wanted to share my good news with everyone!

Thanks for reading!

Hi Deen! Im also 24 and getting my brace fitted tomorrow. I wont be having jaw surgery but I was wondering, as you mentioned your 'convex'? profile in your introduction, do you have any photos of this? Just curious! Good to hear your treatment is going well, if not a little alarming if they are preemptively messing around with your bite, but as you say, all for a worthy cause!
