Just wanted to share - braces off

#1 Post by bracesagain2 »

Hello - after almost 3 years I finally got my braces off today. :D

Can't believe that day was actually here and that I got them off. It feels surreal to me. And it feels weird/funny not to have my braces on.

Just want to encourage those of you in braces that in the end it's totally worth it. All the agonizing, painful, inconvenient things we have to do while we have braces is worth the effort and results.
And while you do have your braces - it feels like it takes forever, but the time does fly by.
Even my assistant was asking, "where did the 3 years go?"

Trust me - there were times I wanted to rip my braces off. It was a real pain flossing, water pick, rinsing and brushing after each meal at home and in public.

Thanks to everyone for the support here! :) Now I will probably be posting about retainers/post treatment. I see there's another section for that.

Heheh - I know its worth it, but I agree with your comment about wanting to rip them off sometimes... I often think I would like to 'BRUSH' them off when I am doing my last brushing of the day!!

Congrats and thanks for the encouragement. Smile broadly!!

Hello!

Maybe you could post a before and after picture? (but only if you want of course) That is always so great and encouraging to see!

Congrats! Very inspiring indded :) But it's true what you say - if you think time flies by, just wait until you get braced... My life seems a lot slower than usual now. I'll have to learn to enjoy the little thinks, I guess :)

Hello - thank you everyone for your well wishes.

Dan - I know how you feel - going through the treatment, I thought that day would never come for me to get my braces off.

I was actually supposed to get them off around 2 yrs. but ended up going almost 3 yrs. with them on.

Hang in there.

Now I'm all paranoid my teeth is starting to shift.

And sometimes it still bugs me that my midline is off. But there's nothing I can do about that. My teeth do look great b/c he fixed the crossbite.
And they seem straighter. My ortho and the staff said it looks beautiful - but of course they have to say that - right?

I'm embarrassed - but how do you post pictures? Is there a section on how to do that?

Hello Bracesagain2,

I am sure that, despite the few imperfections like your midline, your teeth look beautiful now! It is so great that your ortho fixed your crossbite!
I am looking forward to seeing your before-after pictures!
When you type your message, you can also attach files. Below there is a field 'upload attachnment; where you can chose a file from your computer. Then click on the button 'add the file' and the file is attached! You can also write a file comment in the field. I hope this helps a bit....

I had my Damons applied in September 2012, and the projection is to finish in September 2014. Finally the molars are moving a bit to eliminate some gaps in the back!
