Dry lips..

#1 Post by Stef »

Why are my lips constantly dry since I've gotten my braces? I know there has to be a good reason.

What do you use? I've tried Burt's bees, Carmex, Chapstick, coconut oil, and aquaphor lip stuff.
I need something else as I'm constantly reaching for something to stay on that works.

What's your favorite?

My favorite is the sugar lip products available from Sephora: while pricey, they last a long time because I don't have to constantly reapply it: lasts for hours.

I haven't found anything better than good 'ol Vaseline. Messy to apply, but cheap and effective.

I have found that glosses type products dry out just as fast. So I have found that Burts Bees has been the best for my dry lips. I use it multiple times a day, since I got my braces 3 months ago... :) still need it every day too!

It doesn't smell the best but the only thing that's stopped my chronic chapped lips is Bag Balm. You can find it in the pharmacy area.

Either Chapstick or just plain staying hydrated. Constant water intake, i also found the problem with chapped lips only occured in the first few months. I think it may be a reaction to the braces.

I've been braced up for 18 months now. Chapped lips/cut lips. I use carmex which personally works very well for me. :D

Vaseline seems to do it for me. My lips don't feel as dry now as they did in the first couple of weeks though. Either way, I'm a vaseline junkie so always putting some on my lips for moisture.

EOS lip balm in sweet mint! There are various flavors. You can find it at Target, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and Ulta. I have one in my purse, and one at work. A true live saver. :)

My lady has tried them all and swears by the Aquafina product (yes the same people who bottle water in the US). It only seems to be available in Walmart, however. I try to avoid that stuff as I think it inhibits the production of natural oils and lubricants, hence perpetuating the dryness cycle. But obviously there is a huge market in the US for lip balms.
I tell her that she can share hers with me -- and I am not talking about using the applicator

I prefer Carmex as well. They make tinted ones that are nice too.

I thought I was the only one with this problem! Ive been using carmex but as youve already stated, it isnt really a lasting solution.
