Sounds extreme. What do you have going on? Crowding? Excessive overjet? I had an ortho recommend 2 extractions for me, then I went to a Damon braces provider and they said the extractions would have been a horrible idea, I went with them for treatment. Have as many consultations as you can!

Thanks, that's good to know. I think I have crowding as the main issue.

I saw one other ortho, who also said 4 extractions, but they just said full metal for 2.5 yrs.

This plan sounds a lot better not having to ever have braces on my front teeth.

Hello modogg! I originally went in for an Invisalign consult. With my crowding being moderate-severe, my ortho recommended 4 extractions, some time in full braces and switch to Invisalign.... for a whopping cost of almost $10000!! And she was being optimistic when she told me it would take around 3 years!!!! Being cost prohibitive and the length of time involved, I went with 4 extractions and ceramic uppers and metal lowers. Estimated time- 2 years. I'm so happy with my decision. I, like you, didn't want to have visible braces, but NO ONE NOTICES THEM! People do not pay that much attention. I realize even now I should've went with full metal, but I was being vain! :) Good luck with your decision. I've not heard many great things about Invisalign when it comes to fixing bites and with extraction cases in general. A lot of people end up switching to reg braces when using it sometimes. I hope this helps you! Either way you go, you'll be so happy you decided to do it!

Personally I would stick with metal braces for closing extraction gaps. Maybe it could be done with Invisilign, but I think it would be stretching the system to its limits.

Which teeth are you getting extracted? The 4 bicuspids?
