Stitches. Help please.

#1 Post by scraggy »

I had my plates removed from my upper jaw yesterday. Today I'm very sore and swollen.

I've just brushed my teeth and my stitches are coming out already.

Is this normal or do I need to contact someone about this. There is no bleeding but were the stitch had come undone it's pulling on the others which hurts.

Any advice greatly welcome ty.

You'd have to call your surgeon's office and ask (yeah, I know, no fun based on how responsive they've been to you before.) How long they need to stay in place is different for each surgery, type of suture, etc.

My stitches are badly done. But there is too much swelling to re do them.

As long as I get no bleeding or gaping holes I will be ok. I just have to make sure I use the mouthwash they gave me and keep my mouth clean as possible.

It sucks big time.

It's been worth it. I have a fantastic bite and looks good.
