What was your first meal/food after braces?

First meal was sushi!! The look on the waiters face when I asked for a fork and knife was priceless! It didn't go to bad. The pain hadn't kicked in yet so it was just awkward getting rice in between the brackets but so worth it. I did not eat before my appt and I was starving!! As I was for days after

Same here....I did not eat before my appt. I was starving...and had no pain. I tried a croissant breakfast sandwich...no go!! Could not do it. Learned real fast what I could eat...and that was not on my "able" list!!

I don't have any chewing surfaces that touch now, because my brackets get in the way of shifting my mouth around to match up chewing surfaces like I did before I got braces. I was prepared to need soft food; not being able to chew at all came as a shock. I started with a cut-up banana and string cheese pulled into little bits, then had homemade chicken noodle soup with everything small enough to easily swallow without chewing.

Thankfully I had been lurking on these forums since I decided to get braces, so I've got plenty of ideas of what to try while I can't chew!

I was feeling extremely hungry after I got my top teeth braced, so all I could manage was a small cup of microwave clam chowder while everyone else in my family was scarfing down Wendy's

My first meal was mini beef ravioli with meatballs because I knew I could swallow most of that whole.
My second was a beef and cheese burrito which I cut up into very small pieces.
The next was wieners and beans and I cut the wieners up into little pieces.
And my next meal was beef and veal cannoli which was easy to chew.
I was fortunate to only have four days with sensitive teeth!
I have experienced that horrible drooling into pillow case!
I think it is disgusting.
Thank goodness I only did it a few times!

Pasta salad. That was a mess. Right now my back teeth don't meet so chewing is an ordeal. It takes me FOREVER to eat anything...and since I have the attention span of a flea, I rarely finish anything now.

I'm hoping my braces help me lose some of the 60lbs I need to lose

Sweet corn soup! What a mistake. I spent the next hour picking out sweet corn skins from my very sore teeth. When I smiled after the soup I could barely see the braces for skins. Annoyingly I bought 4 cartons of the stuff too when I got out of the dentists.

I have been relying on protein shakes... the first thing I tried to eat was macaroni and cheese and it was a disaster with it sticking in my teeth!

I'm 17 days in and still cannot chew food.

My first meal was a salad for lunch - i was fine with the cucumber, tomato and lettuce. But the carrot was a no go. I had a soup for dinner the same night and Sushi for lunch the next day.

My first meal was a drinking yoghurt for lunch and tomato soup with soaked bread for dinner!
The next day was my annual family party and all I could eat was mushy pumpkin pie.

Pizza was my last meal befor getting braced and On debrace day I intend eating pizza again!

My first meal was tomato soup. I truly think I could have eaten something else because I wasn't in any pain BUT I didn't want a bunch of food stuck in my braces! I am paranoid about that so I see myself losing weight in this journey of braces.....

My first and only meal for two weeks was pudding , yogurt , tried rice and egg and they hurt a lot and then it got scary i lost weight went from 105 to 98-97 pounds maybe less .... soooo one of my girls who likes to work out and stuff introduce me to the gym and protein shakes , soft protein pancakes , veggie juices , mashed potatoes adding some meat ( chicken , tuna , veggies ) in the blender and now im back to my normal weight and eating better ..
