No activation today. My gums are too angry. He made an appointment for four weeks from today to activate it. I did get an adjustment today though and my bottom braces added along with bite bumps. I have to say I'm starting to get hungry. Been on liquids since Friday and I'm just now starting to add eggs. What I would do to be able to eat something more substantial. Anyway...my ortho did say that aside from swollen gums everything looks good and he is hopeful the tooth will cruise right into place.

That sounds promising, how exciting will it be when you see your tooth poking through the gum! Oh dear that's the part I am not looking forward to, restricted eating!!
Lol, I could probably eat more but I'm being careful. And now with my shiny new ligs I don't want to eat anything that could stain them. I have "bite bumps" because I have a fairly profound overbite. They put them on my bottom back molars so my top teeth don't hit my braces. They said most people don't like them but I'm looking forward to them as my bottom teeth rub into the roof of my mouth sometimes.
I'm kind of bummed I have to wait 4 more weeks to start the process of moving the canine but, at least the surgery is over. I've read some of the stories on here about people having to have that redone...I'm praying that doesn't happen!
You must be looking forward to your surgery! As I got closer I really thought about it often.

Why would they need to have surgery redone?
From what I understand, It sounds like the bracket they attach to the impacted canine sometimes pops off and they have to redo the surgery to replace the bracket.
I'm kind of having a miserable time I would really hate to have to do this again. My gums are still terribly swollen. I had my regular dental cleaning and they could barely do anything because my gums were so puffy.
This really sucks lol. Tomorrow marks one week since surgery.

Does that mean they flap the gum back over the tooth after surgery ? And if bracket pops off they have to expose again?
Things normally get worse before they get better you will soon be right

Hi Millersgirl, how are your gums now are they any better?
Hey Jenna!
I am FINALLY feeling like myself again! Today I even made it back to the gym, which is 10 days after my procedure. I think there is a possibility I was having a sensitivity to the material my sutures were made of. I pulled my sutures out Friday and Saturday (days 7 and 8 ) and I cannot begin to describe the feeling of instant relief and my gums went down immediately.
Now that I'm feeling much better I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed I have to wait 3 more weeks to activate my tooth. From everything I've read it should be done within 14 days. I will ask my oral surgeon about it when I meet with him on Thursday for my post op check up.
How are you doing, are you looking forward to your procedure? I can't remember...are you doing IV or local?

Hello, glad to hear you are feeling better do they sew in some kind of dressing over the area? I am ok, procedure on friday and feeling a little nervous because i dont know what to expect pain etc....hoping i will be ok to return to work on monday (currently off on half term). I'm doing IV
Just returned from my exposure surgery this morning it took about 40 minutes and wasn't bad at all while getting it done. I had IV sedation and was aware but relaxed for it, heard quite a bit of drilling going on! Just sat back home waiting for the pain to kick in!!
