Being a bridesmaid with braces

#1 Post by kingy »

Hey guys, I am going to be a bridesmaid in my friends wedding next month and was wondering what to do about the coloured bands on my braces.
I have metal braces top and bottom. Should I try and match the band colour to my dress or go for something that won't stand out so much?
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance :D

Hi! I would recommend the color grey since it's the least noticeable, but if you want to match your braces with your dress than go ahead!! I've been getting grey my whole braces treatment since people barely notice them(I got teal once- it wasn't that bad). Good luck on whatever you decide!

I would probably go with the least noticeable colour and also a colour that won't stain so you'll look good in the post-meal photos.

I'm a bridesmaid next month too. I get the most invisible bands there are but thats me for the whole treatment. If you wanna have fun then get colored or ask the bride what she thinks since she will be looking at the pics for years to come.

I'd definitely defer to the bride's wishes on this :-)

I'd definately ask the bride! I know they are your teeth, but they are her wedding pictures. She might be totally cool with whatever... or she might not. lol

I'm gonna be a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding next year too and I've already thought "ughh braces!" lol Hopefully my teeth will be looking real good by then.

I don't you need to ask the bride, she has enough things on her mind but if it was me I would definitely go with what ever is least noticeable like white or gray. Hope it helps, good luck, and have fun at the wedding. Maybe you'll meet someone ;)

If the bride doesn't have a preference, I say go with whatever makes you feel good. It is your confidence with the braces and the colors you choose that will show through in the pictures more than the colors do. Whatever you chose, just own it.

Thanks guys! It's funny, my first thought when she asked me to be a bridesmaid was ugh braces! I've never had that thought until now!
I'm loving my teeth so much at the moment and how straight they already are in under 1yr of treatment. Such a huge difference from before braces, and i dont even mind the braces lol, but there are times (like now) where I can wait for them to be off lol

Ha! I'm about to be a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding! (Ugh, braces!)
If the bride doesn't care, do whatever you like. I'd probably do the least noticeable thing, but I *just* got my braces, so my teeth still look horrible (lol), but if they were straight, I might think about matching my dress, etc..
Like the other person above said, if you look confident in the pictures, that will stand out more than the braces!

I guess I will make the decision when the time comes to lol
Good news is I have an appointment with my ortho the week before the wedding, so whatever I choose they will be fresh and clean at least lol no faded colours or stains :D

I am getting braced soon and will also be a Bridesmaid in Braces... that's hilarious, first of all! We should form a club. :)

The bride has been my friend since age 10 and she had two rounds of braces when we were in middle school and high school. I told her about the braces a few weeks after she got engaged, and she was fine with it. She didn't seem upset or annoyed at all... no bridezilla there! In fact she was very supportive and said she was really excited for me.

I think I will be put in Damons (all metal) so no color worries, though I told her if I was gonna pick a color I would match the bridesmaid dress!

My only concern is that my braces will be designed to give me an underbite since I will be having jaw surgery. The wedding isn't until January so it will be quite developed by that point. :? I hope it is not too noticeable in the photos.

I worried so much about the pictures when I was in a wedding 2 months after being braced but they didnt show at all and the pics turned out good. I have worn pearl ligs the whole time though so unless its a closeup you dont see my braces and I smile so much more in pics!
