Hi there,
In 15 months I'm undergoing the above surgery also known as double jaw surgery.
I've started up a Wordpress blog to document my journey and hopefully inform a few others who are new to all this too.
So glad this forum exists, I feel like I always have a new question every day!
Braces go on in about 4-6 weeks.
Had surgery on the weekend to remove my top left baby eye tooth and expose the impacted adult one behind it. Still a bit sore, most annoying thing is eating mush. I guess It's a nice preview of what's to come!!!

Re: Bimaxillary Osteotomy
good luck, just be aware that appliances can break through no fault of your own, and that all these dates approximates. My guess is that the weeks are going to rack up over time, Mine did. Also your surgery plan may change slightly when your teeth are in place.
I'm sure you'll look fabulous on the other side.
yours sincerely Ben
ps please keep hydrated after surgery by drinking a full glass of water after any pills. Trust me, severe dehydration sucks!

Re: Bimaxillary Osteotomy
oh! and if you any problems you should definitely see your ortho, if you don't the process can take longer.
Re: Bimaxillary Osteotomy
Hey Ben, lucky my braces estimate was longer than expected as braces go on next Friday the 18th!
My surgeon told me before my exposure surgery the chain can break pretty easy, I've had it in close to 4 weeks now and luckily it hasn't come off. Hopefully with the braces I have the same luck because my ortho is about a 45 minute drive.
It sure will be interesting when the need for surgery comes closer to know exactly what will be happening, will keep in mind about the water, I've read on a few blogs pretty much the same info because you can end up having a few issues with getting 'blocked up'.
Thanks for the advice

Re: Bimaxillary Osteotomy
Lucky you!
breakages are rare though, and in my case tended to happen either at first when all my teeth were so crooked the arch wire looked like a zig zag, my guess is theres more strain on the appliance. OR when I had big gaps in the calendar between appointments so they couldn't be properly maitenced. My chain broke once too I think.
also I didn't read when you posted that, and thought your surgery was a few days ago, regardless please remember that for the future, because not only was I "bunged up", I also had a terrible hangover-like feeling for days.
I don't mean to scare you, just good luck!

Yeah I don't have very nice side effects after anaesthesia so I'm pretty much preparing myself for the worst
