Teeth shifting - braces removed early.

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Teeth shifting - braces removed early.

#1 Post by PineappleFish »

So, long story short I'm having my braces removed "early" (only by about a month, if that) due to psychological reasons. Has anyone had any experience with this. I understand that retainers should be worn 24/7, but will teeth still shift around even with a permanent retainer + and essix? does the arch stay the same?

Your teeth are going to settle when the braces come off. It won't be much of a difference but naturally once the brackets and wires are removed, there won't be anything holding the teeth in place, so they settle.

This is why you need to wear retainers.
