Your favorite toothbrush for "early" braces?

#1 Post by KayKay »

My mouth is still tender a bit - especially in the front - so my electric toothbrush is not in use. I was given a V toothbrush by the orthodontist but the handle isn't easy to grip.

Does anyone have a toothbrush to recommend?
Looking forward to the new smile,
KayKay

A kids toothbrush can be great, especially if you are having problems getting the rears clean. The smaller head size is nice.

I like the smaller heads for the SonicCare the first few days after an adjustment, careful to avoid bonking teeth with the hard plastic. Then back to regular toothbrush.

I agree with one of the previous post a kid toothbrush or an extra soft one is the way to go. I actually made the mistake of trying to use my electric toothbrush and I was in extra pain...take it easy for the first week and brush gently

I used a Sensodyne toothbrush when I first got my braces. They have tiny small heads and soft bristles which is great when your mouth is really sore. And in my opinion they're also better quality than the ones you get for free at your ortho.

Even brushing 3 or more times a day, I just can't keep my teeth as clean as they should be with a manual toothbrush. I use my Sonicare even following an adjustment when my teeth are sensitive.
