Upper jaw moved forward 3mm - any nose change?

#1 Post by TheEvilCactus »

Hey people....

My surgery date is 26th March 2015. (Very soon!!!!)

My surgeon says my upper jaw is being moved forward 3mm and I'm worried about this changing my nose. Has anyone else had a small advancement like this and had it affect their nose or cheeks at all?

Thank you

xx

You won't know until months after the fact :/

One thing to think about is whether your starting position is "normal". If you already have a broad nose, for example, then a small increase in width could be a real issue for you, otherwise not so much.

In my discussions with my oral surgeon, he had made hand-drawn outlines of what my facial profile will look like when my jaw is in the right place (which includes Lefort I). In his drawings, my nose seems to stick out a lot less and my cheeks are fuller. In other words, my nose is more recessed in my face because of my jaw/cheeks moving forward. I imagine you may have a similar outcome. Have you talked to your surgeon about this?

More recessed in your face??!

Everything I've read and and seen photo's of show the nose tip being raised and potentially becoming wider... cheeks become fuller though too, yeah. Maybe you have a small nose to start with? Mine is kinda big and droops a lil at the tip...

my surgeon says it might have a tiny effect but I wanted to see if other people with this small movement had any changes personally, since learning from others that have had the procedure is always useful :- ) I know some people have been told it'd make no difference and end up having a different nose... a bit worrying!
