Lingual Attachments

I was told that I would be getting lingual attachments on my upper incisors later in my treatment. I haven't read anything about these in the message boards. Are they new or have any of you had them put on? Do they affect speech more than if you don't have any? I'm also worried that one day when I go in they will surprise me with attachment across my front teeth. Are the attachments drawn on the diagram and shown in the video the only ones you will get or have you been surprised by attachments that were put on in the middle of your treatment?
