Hey Robbie :)
Ahhh I'm ok, the roof of my mouth from removal of my impacted canine is so swollen! I also have a beautiful black eye which isn't helping haha! The swelling has put my speech back to square one which is annoying and embarrassing :( It is so good to hear that it gets better! You've made me feel more positive about things now :) Are you now at the stage where you feel you definitely made the right decision? I know deep down I have, but it's hard to feel totally confident in my decision because I'm feeling so rough (just me feeling sorry for myself!).
Have you got any tips for applying the wax? It keeps falling off when I put it on! Also... I've heard that magnesium supplements are good for a sore tongue! So I'm giving it a go! So you're feeling good now after 3 weeks... Did you struggle with speech a lot at the start?

Hey Katie,

I have posted an update on my progress on my thread so as not to hijack Robbies :) I recommend you trying a few brands of wax as all are not equal. I now apply mine when I am lying in bed so no longer try and dry the tooth before applying. Try silicone ear plugs - you just break them up as with dental wax. It doesn't seem to break up as much as other wax. Each to their own though :)

here's a quick 3-month update:

i guess after about 2 weeks i was completely used to living with linguals. before i had em fitted i was reading here pretty much everyday, but when you're a couple of weeks into treatment life continoues as normal. i just cam back from my second appointment (my first one, a month ago, was just a checkup). i got new, thicker wires. probably means my teeth will be sore for a couple of days. all is going well, i guess when you see/brush your teeth every day it's hard to notice any progress, but if i look at pictures from 3 months ago, things definately look better. in 2 months time im getting elastics, but apparently this means elastics on the inside of the brackets that you can't remove yourself (as opposed to elactics that you have to apply manually).

that's all, take care!

Robbie, would be great to hear from you once you've had the elastics on. I've been told I'll need them and am very curious to hear what they are like with lingual braces.

Your post was very reassuring by the way; nice to hear there are people out there who respond well to mouthfuls of metal :)
