That means it's working! In my experience the contact pain like you are describing has never lasted longer than maybe 10 days.

Getting my braces put on was nothing compared to my adjustments. I have really bad rotation in quite a few of my lower teeth...so on top of getting new elastic ties every visit, I've also been getting wire ties underneath them...yesterday was particularly terrible because I had my rear molars banded, got a thicker wire on the bottom for active gap closing, and my favorite wire ties underneath the elastic ones...and wire ties, wow. If you can picture it, the wire is put into the bracket, then the wire tie is placed around the wire and bracket together, then pulled tight to the side (in the direction they want to tooth to rotate), then twisted tight and trimmed. Then the elastic is wrapped around and on top in a figure 8. Feeling like a tooth is being pulled out is super crazy!

I just had my first adjustment today! Top wire stayed the same, just replaced the ligatures. Bottom wire was replaced with a rectangular wire and ligatures changed as well. I had a power chain on the bottom to close a large gap.....the ortho took it off this time, although the gap is not even near closed yet. He said he wants to align some teeth a bit differently before he pushes them all together to close the gap. Darn...I really loved the idea of a power chain since the main reason I got braces was to close that darn gap!! Guess I will just have to wait it out and trust the process.

Side note: I have ceramics with pearl coloured ligs - I thought I was doing such a good job of keeping my ligs from staining! Drank everything out of a straw and avoided staining foods..But when he took of those old ligs, they looked nasty!! Like a terrible yellowish colour. Luckily they didn't look that terrible on my teeth, but man they were gross! Better amp up my efforts this month!

Hey

I've got my adjustment on Monday and the clear power chain is soooooooo gross!!! I even took it off and dipped it in baking soda but it's still coffee stained brown!!

I'm hoping he keeps the power chains on thou because they work wonders and my 6mm gap in my front teeth is totally closed. By doing so it's created more gaps thou either side!!

Not looking forward to the pain again!

How long is your treatment?
