Is there any way to fix my jaw? (Pics provided)

#1 Post by savagemoonlight1 »

Hi guys. I've always had a longish face with slight vertical maxillary excess, and a greatly retruded lower jaw/chin which hides my jawline and makes my face looks chubby even though I'm in fact quite thin. I used to have an open bite but was fixed via braces around 10 years ago by pushing my upper row of teeth inwards.

The first picture below is me under normal circumstances. And in the second picture, I deliberately tried to jut my lower jaw forward. I was shocked to see that just by moving my lower jaw forward, my jawline became much more visible, the saggy chubby cheeks look is alleviated, and overall the facial harmony seems to be more balanced.

I'm thinking of getting the Lefort 1+BSSO+Genio procedure to reduce my VME and move my lower jaw/chin forward. Could anyone advise if this procedure is able to help me achieve the result in the second pic? Thank you so much!

You really need to ask an actual orthodontist. There's not a whole lot that can be determined by a single off-angle photo. An actual diagnosis (which us random folks on the internet aren't qualified to delivery anyway) depends on a full series of measurements, diagnostic photos, along with cephalograms and a panorex so all the appropriate measurements can be taken.

Just glancing at that one picture, I can say that I think orthodontic and/or othrognathic treatment might be useful, but an actual orthodontist would have to tell you the specifics.
