Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
can't really lift it up all the way. still hurting
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Oh is that your canine just popping through at the top there? Mine seems to be pulled down differently to most people's. It hasn't been "exposed" just the front gum lifted and stitched then the chain coming out of the gum. X
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
mine has to be pulled forward first before bringing it down into place.ditsy wrote:Oh is that your canine just popping through at the top there? my first time it was done like this...unfortunately though, my chain popped off. going in for a re exposure today. it hurt so bad last time. ugh. not looking forward to this at all. My ortho is giving me 4 more months of trying before he wants me to get it pulled. praying it works this time.ditsy wrote:Oh is that your canine just popping through at the top there? Oh no millersgirl! I can't imagine anything worse! Did you find it really painfull when they pull the chain in adjustments? It really does shoot through me, I think it's because they are pulling the chain through the gum. I have a high pain threshold but it really shakes me up, an hour later I am fine again. Not looking forward to the next adjustment. My chain has loosened a little but I don't know if that's just because I am happier to give it a poke now than I was last week! X

I have to say I am surprised I am in basically no pain. Don't know why it hurt so much more last time. Everything is all swollen like crazy right now but no pain.
Adjustments never really hurt...only maybe like twice in the last year.
Keep praying my tooth moves...my ortho is only giving me 4 months to make progress.
I did get a quote on the bone graft and implant though...after insurance I'll owe just under $2000. But hopefully I wont need it.

It's certainly been a few months since I've been on here and it feels even longer since I had my exposure surgery back in June last year. It's been months of pulling and pulling but now finally my tooth has been attached with a new bracket and attached to the arch wire! Woohoo progress! I've attempted to attach a picture of my most recent progress

Congrats on the movement. My tooth seems to be in a similar starting position but they sewed my gums back over the tooth.UnevenJAG wrote:It's certainly been a few months since I've been on here and it feels even longer since I had my exposure surgery back in June last year. Hi millersgirl, when mine was originally exposed the gum was cut and a bracket placed on the tooth, and as far as I know just left open, but at the start you couldn't even see the tooth just the glue and the chain pretty much under the gum. When was your exposure done? It still surprises me that this surgery is a lot more common than I thought!

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I had my exposure done Feb 2014. It basically hasn't moved at all in that time. A couple weeks ago my ortho decided to start pulling straight down. Shortly after my bonding material broke away from the tooth. So I had it re exposed earlier this week, Monday. As soon as the swelling goes down I will begin reactivating it. My ortho is giving me 4 months for progress and if it doesn't make any it's time to get it pulled and proceed with plans for implant.UnevenJAG wrote:Hi millersgirl, when mine was originally exposed the gum was cut and a bracket placed on the tooth, and as far as I know just left open, but at the start you couldn't even see the tooth just the glue and the chain pretty much under the gum. Wow that's a fair amount of time, was there anything attached to your tooth at the original exposure?
I know with mine in the same surgery to expose the tooth it was bracketed and a chain attached to the palatal arch at the roof of my mouth and since then it's been pulled down and now being pulled across.

They did the same thing at the original exposure as they did Monday. Cut the gums off to expose, attach a button and gold chain, sew the gums back over. My ortho has been pulling to the side this whole time and is just now trying to pull down. Sounds like the reverse of your game plan. I believe it's because he was concerned for root damage but I've recently had diagnostic imaging that shows the roots are damage free and clear to pull straight down. I'm praying this works as I'd love to keep my natural tooth.
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Ok right I get you, well I hope that pulling the tooth down yields more results for you, fingers crossed

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
After going through this thread and seeing the talk of Acceledent, I thought I'd share my story, too:
A year ago this week, I got my braces on at the age of 18. I was less than thrilled, but was told that it was the only way to bring down 2 very impacted canine teeth. After using an expander and all that fun stuff, they decided 7 months later that I was ready for my surgery. So I had my exposure done in December. They went with the method of opening the gums, attaching, then sewing the gums back up. In March, with little progress showing (neither of my teeth had surfaced), my Orthodontist recommended I try Acceledent to get things going. Being a college student, I was reluctant to spend the $1000, not knowing a lot about it. After weighing options, I decided it was a good fit (I was willing to try anything to get my braces off quicker--who wants braces at 19?). I am so glad that I got it. It's now May, only 2 months after starting Acceledent, and both of my canines have broken through. It's truly amazing how quickly things progressed. So, for any of you weary of such technology as I was, give it a shot. I hope my story helps some of you as previous posts on this thread have helped me. Here's hoping we all get our braces off in a timely fashion!

I've been curious of this device. My ortho doesn't sell it thoughkatesm13 wrote: So, for any of you weary of such technology as I was, give it a shot. I hope my story helps some of you as previous posts on this thread have helped me. Here's hoping we all get our braces off in a timely fashion!
